respray=quick "blow over" or full "windows out " job?

My decision was an easy one.....I had the sills replaced and both sides and P.U resprayed about 18 months ago at a cost £1500, so while we're on holiday, I've decided to have the bonnet, headlight covers, badge panel and roof done as well. Badge panel has small dent which is also to be removed... quote is for £800.

Thought I'd better get it done now as there is some nasty flaking round the rear edge of the sunroof. I wondered if it was because the seal had become hard, but my garage said it was just because water gets trapped in the seal and happens a lot more on some other cars. I guess it's been made worse by living outside for the last 6 years [:(]

And it's also not looking very err...red on top at the moment....

I suspect that the decision to spend money is based on your attachement/reason for buying the car in the first place. For me the 944 is a cheap daily runner and an opportunity to drive something fun everyday, take on track and learn to wield a spanner in a safe (re cheap) environment.

My 911 is my keeper and the heart rules the head hear so I will spend money on keeping/getting her right. Whilst she may not have depreciated very much in the five years I have had her I have spent thousands on mechanicals (bloody clutch) and am about to start on a program for the body work over the next couple of years. It may not have lost much value but the running cost makes up for that. By the time I have finished if you can ever finish I am sure that I will have made financially unsound decisions, but I love Porsche and my car(s), it is where I choose to spend some of my money and to me it doesn't matter. I could waste more going to watch football or some other boring sport and that is simply money down the drain (IMHO).

If the 944 was my true love rather than the 911, then I would treat it to the same level of care but I would have spent considerable more getting a good one in the first place. Having said all that my wife is now regretting buying the 944 as she loves it so much and knows that some day it will have to go as we can't afford to maintain two cars to the same extent.
