Rick on TV! (although sadly not RS powered)

Rick, thanks for the explanation.

I am not surprised, some have been chasing the record for 20+years...my (limited) understanding is that the power required to overcome the aerodynamics holding the car back increases exponentially. At that point assuming you can attain sufficient power the stresses are likely to affect the reliability?

I admire your enthusiasm and dedication, the fact that everything needs to line up, weather, salt, surface, reliability, drivers skill/bottle etc...all make it such a serious challenge.

Chances are once the record is attained you may keep it for a while.

On the basis of probability have you considered renaming The Flower to The Black Swan! [:D]

Good luck for your next attempt.

Great program again. You and your team got plenty of airtime Rick.

The spreading of the guys ashes was quite emotional - was really chuffed it all went to plan for them during the week (when you see how quickly it went wrong for the other two guy's supercharger).

Great TV, much better than the 99% reality tv crap on these days..well done for giving it a go....and not dieing [:-][:D]

Thought it was really addictive viewing. Here's hoping you get the funding to have another crack this year. Hopefully decent viewing figures will allow more airtime too. [;)]

Thanks guys!

Funny story. First time I visited the Salt, I was driving in on the Sunday morning with 3 French guys, listening to the commentary on the car radio... and it's REALLY emotional.... "We're here to pay our respect to Old Dan, Old Dan first came to the Salt in 1953 and never missed a SpeedWeek... he's on the Start line now... Old Dan passed away in the workshop 2 weeks ago... And he's thru the 2 mile at 200.129... into the 3 at 202..... and out the back door at 217 and change... there's the Chute.. Goodbye Dan and god speed."

I'm welling up... the French don't follow what's going on... I'm trying to explain "Papi est dans le chute"... Grandpa's ashes were packed in with the parachute.

Someone wise once told me.

"There are only a limited number of Speedweeks in your lifetime. So don't miss any."

Great programme Rick well done you and the Team ...

What is the air-cooled record with and without Turbo?

hahaha, sadly there is no "aircooled" class....

And no Jason, not sure I'll be back... trying not to think about the Salt more than about once per hour right now... it is totally addictive in a way you just cannot explain.

Hahahah, in my dreams Des... even the bi-turbo nasty would struggle to endanger the 258 mph I need to do to set the record in the appropriate class!

Or do u mean REALLY aircooled... like this:
