Right - im now booked on Eurotunnel...

Departing Saturday 27th May 07:58 arriving 09:33
Return Saturday 3rd June 19:28 arriving 19:03

Cost £188 because its longer than 5 days apparently.

The cheap ferrys are sold out on the days I wanted to travel. P&O wanted £150 as did Sea France.
They are going quick guys so I suggest you get in there ASAP.

Hi. This is what I am doing, will be booking this week. The place we are staying at is:

http://www.aeaventures.com/index.html

The guys who run the place are called Neil and Ann, both very nice and helpful. I think they have availability from the Tuesday onwards so potentially it may mean staying somewhere nearby and moving or finding something similar "" give them a call and they may be able to help you with a place.

Regarding the crossing, I was going to use Speedferries which do returns to Bolougne for GBP50 and are efficient and quick. Used them last year and had no trouble at all.

http://www.speedferries.com/

The crossings I was thinking of were to get there are:

Outbound "" Sat 27 May 14.45 arrives 16.35
Return "" Thur 1 June 21.00 arrives 20.50 (or Fri 2 Jun same times so gives an extra day)

Open to staying an extra day if you feel like, I am sure there will be lots of things to do otherwise may just save the days holiday for another track day. If you want to come back Friday then we will have options to go to the ring either side of the SPA dates and can probably fit in a trip to Ring/Ruf/Manthay etc if you are interested.

I took the crossing last year, under 1 hour and very good service. Bolougne is a lot nicer than Calais and great place to stop for some food etc.

Regards

Ok so whats the plan - are we going with Yoda's suggestion? Be good if we could get a bit of a party all going/staying/returning alike?

Come on lets agree....I want it in the diary to look forward to....[:D]

Ok guys here is my two penneth, I am open to suggestion but I am seriously considering going Mon to make it to the ring for the afternooon (likely, tbc) session. This is only going to be a two or maybe four hour session(again nothing actually known yet) so it's of limited appeal to those who want longer there. It would be possible to go on the sat and take advantage of the whole weekend. But beware bank holidays at the ring are manic!
I have already booked the SAS Radisson Balmoral for the 29-31st so I have some flexabilty about the rest of the week. A whole load of the GT3 lot have started to book this hotel also. Rates are'nt too bad but not exactly cheap. deals start at £85 per night including brekkie. I will use eurotunnel short stay saver for my crossing it's about £108 apprx I plan an earlyish outbound 7 or 8 am and lateish return on 31st. If I do go out for the weekend I might stay at the Novotel Bonn. We stayed there last time out. It's a 50 min drive to the ring from there but it's 100 euro's for the weekend to stay there. there are probably nearer places.

OK, I have booked my ferry and am going with Speedferries on the following crossings:

out 27.5.2006 14:45 Dover / Boulogne SpeedOne 27.5.2006 16:35
rtn 1.6.2006 21:00 Boulogne / Dover SpeedOne 1.6.2006 20:50

I am reliably told (by an instructor there) that the 'Ring schedule can change at short notice and well into 2006 with the public sessions being bumped for other bookings/testing/races. I am keen to go and would like to have the option of Sun or Mon which may also give a choice is weather is bad. Plenty to do in the area (racing pretty much every weekend at SPA, 'Ring, karting, Ruf / Manthay visit, great drives etc) so no problem enjoying the extra day. It also allows contingeny time before the Autotrack days in case you need to sort anything on the car eg tyres, minor repairs (someone lost a bumper last year and another had a blow out).

If interested in Eurotunnel crossing, the titanic guys are trying to do a group buy if they get 15 takers for about £100 - beware that the lower rate (and the one quoted above) are for a 5 day trip and cost increases if you want to go for longer. Speedferries bookings must be coming in quick as their return is now quoted at £70 for the times I am travelling so wherever you book, don't delay.

Would be great to drive there together but if we don't lets make sure we hook up for drive to the 'Ring and some R&R before SPA. Anyone going on the Speedferries times above, drop me a note if you want to hook up on the way.

Regards

I'm going out on the Saturday lunchtime, staying at the Radisson Balmoral in Spa Sat-Thursday.

I will more than likely be trailering, trying to keep the mileage down after the RMA trip to the ring in March.

There's gonna be 20+GT3's at the Radisson, so it's looking busy already.
Very nice Hotel (reflected in the price) and most of our other halves are coming too[8|]

Hope to do a public day at the Ring on Sunday (and maybe Monday eve).

Then it's go go go, for Tues and Weds at Spa[:)]

To anyone who is interested, i will be looking to organise another Ring trip for the end
of July, if anyone fancies it, let me know.

All in the best possible taste of course !!!! (piano bar anyone ???)
