Riviera Clubsport for sale!

When I got the 964 RSR refurbished, as the passenger door had been "dented beyond repair," I asked our German father Xmas for a quote. A good secondhand aluminium door was 4-5K euros (more than two years ago). I got the door gently sandblasted and a new metal sheet properly welded. It looked brand new.

The obvious pro of the aluminum doors is their lightness (which is impressive), the less obvious cons is that they do not lock with the satisfying noise of a typical old-school 911 door--F=m*a [;)]

Hope my wife doesn't read this as it may tempt her to get the spanners out !!

Cud nt agree more , like dropping an old baked bean can on a stone floor! Had to take an old alloy door to Father Xmas once they dont really fit in a Clubsport ! Scared it was going to get damaged en route....................

Not a great plan to put alli doors on a race car, they would be beated to crap in a few races. Gt3 Cup cars dont even get alli bonnets, just the standard steel ones but they do have carbon doors which - having had the odd whack myself - are very cheap to repair. Interestingly, I bought an alli bonnet for my 993 race car from Porsche Colchester last month and it was only about 100 quid more expensive than a steel one which I thought was an amazing deal!

truly amazed on ally Bonnet............last i heard very hard to even find , Porsche not keen on making any more , when they do they re appalling fit and abt Eu 3000

I think that if porsche UK have them in stock, they charge the euro rate they origionally bought them for. Not sure there are any left now. Bring one in from Europe and currently it would be circa £2500.00. I just got lucky thats all. Car comming on nicely by the way.

OK, so here's a question.

I read that the only two panels carried across from the 964 to the 993 were the roof and the bonet.

So will a 964RS ali bonnet fit a 993RS ? [8|]

No 993 is few cm longer.
