Roll cage with diagonal - £370, without £340

ORIGINAL: bennyboy

Having tried sundry seats my expanding middle aged back side necessitated the wider GT version. This isn't an issue aside having to fabricate a pair of lateral mounting rail as the side supports are further apart.
Yes I'm having fun with fitting at the moment with my 'XL' Corbeau seats which have the additional width like yours John. I'm doing my best to find some side mounts that fit, rather than having some rails made up, but would be interested how you plan to do this. I did find some that were almost usable, but then I am too close to the wheel[:'(]

I know this won't be much help - it looks like recaro (and brey-krause) do some Porsche specific side mounts - maybe there's something similar buried in the Corbeau catalogue?

As I understand, the standard seats with standard side mounts should be fine with a 944. The problem comes with the wider seat because the mounts are spaced further apart.

As we discussed in another thread my universal ones fitted my Corbeau Sprint XLs fine. It was only the front that was tight as I recall. Presumably that is because the riser bolts to the outside of the floor rail which buys you an extra few mm clearance each side.

With any side-mount fixed seat getting the screws into the shell on the tunnel side is fun on the 944.

So my version of dropping the seat with mounts attached onto (in effect) studs sticking up from the floor might be favourite then?

As I have steel mountings I am also considering if these will be adequate for harness mounts.

Only if you have sufficient height. Mine are as low as I could get them which (at the back) creates the same problem as the tunnel/seat does.
