Rolling chassis for sale (perfect for track car)

I've just checked and I have no pictures that would be remotely useful! The bottoms of the front wings are rusted and there is a small patch by one of the boot catches that has not yet been attended to but we were undecided about what to do with that as its not very big, there is a small rust free section cut out of another car in the boot or you might be able to remove the rust and keep the original.

Other than that the whole shell (at some expense) has been made rust free both inner and outer layers. Picture attached is of the inner sill repair before it was finished and the new outer wing was installed.

With its cat 1 alarms, remote locking, good history and 3 owners from new it makes a good shell to fix up with a donor car.

Also can't remember if I mentioned here but the whole wiring loom was replaced a few years ago in the history so all the wiring for the engine is in usually good condition for a 944, it had two new front callipers a few thousand miles ago so no plate lift issues and it has two new front wishbones fitted when the engine came out.

The car has all four wheels on, steering and brakes are linked up, seats are still in and windows are in so could easily be transported on a trailer if needed.

It does seem a bit of a bargain to me, its cost me many thousands to buy it and make it into a good shell so I'm grating my teeth about selling it but like I said this was a once in a lifetime opportunity too good to miss and its just pointless to carry on when I've found a car that's probably had the cost of a new 997 S put into it over the last 10 years.

What would I gain from keeping it, spending more on it? Still I'm confident it'll find a buyer soon:)

If I had access to a garage (or even a dedicated off-road parking space) I'd be jumping at this, without a doubt.

Sadly, current housing arrangements make it a definite no-no. Alas.

I believe S.P's restoration went to Ireland IIRC, and whilst a very fine car, probably nowhere near hard core enough for you Ben, so my first thought was WUF [:)]

As you know I'm extremely excitable, especially when it comes to cars and driving. There will be many many stories, many many videos, and many many photos once the car is mine but even though its all agreed, until my name is on the logbook and I have the keys in hand I don't want to tempt fate! - I'm not sure I'll even dare drive it to start with for fear of spoiling it, I just want to clean it and sit in it to enjoy the thrill of a 944 that's so shiny with working aircon, and a working clock.

However it's doing the 1000+ mile round trip to le-mans where its likely to crammed with luggage, covered in dust and full of empty drink containers for four days. After that the new car syndrome will probably be just about cured.

p.s. the shell is now provisionally sold so thankyou all for your interest:)

SP's restoration or turbot ?.

Hmmm pauly.. I cannot put a face to this user name but you are a man of great knowledge about the circles I frequent.

[:D] I spoke to you about your 3.2 (where is it now ?) other than that there's various cars I've thought about buying and maybe still would.

You've a good memory, that was some time ago! The 3.2 is still owned by an enthusiast who walks these circles, he just likes to keep out of the spotlight. Last time I went out in it it was running 420hp and 500ft/lb torque as tested on a dyno dynamics rolling road. The car was no match in the corners but every bit as fast on the straights as the new Nissan GTR, and noticeably/unquestionably faster than the 996 GT3 rs (again straight line only).

Gives an amazing amount of confidence to feel that kind of shove and smooth, refined GTR style, never ending power delivery from something like a shed tuned 25 year old 944! (even if it is quite a special one)

Occasionally I get the urge to turn my turbo into something much faster but when I think I could buy something like a Griffith with the tuning money and keep the turbo as it is I have a financial reality check [:)].

Sounds very promising Ben! My first thought was Fen's old car. He seems to have dissappeared now he's over the water. I wonder if he ever got round to having his turbo shipped out there? If not, I think Promax should make him an offer for it as IIRC the engine was shot but the specsheet incredible - what a perfect opportunity for an LS3[:D]

I don't think the engine was shot, I considered putting it into a 968 at one point.

That engine was replaced I think.

Was it really?
As Fen last posted on here his car was still sitting in a barn with a hole in the block, as far as I can remember...

It was for sale as a rolling shell, I guess it would have sold by now but it was at Andy Moss in Honiton.

I spoke to him not that long ago. The shell has a cup engine in it and is still sitting in a barn somewhere. [:)] (it's grey by the way so not the one I bought)

The original engine he had literally split in half when one of the rods failed. You could see through the block and out the other side!

Pauly - Don't kid yourself about the Griffith, its not the superior car. The Griffith was the TVR I planned to buy but when I went to look for one I gave up at their condition, didn't like the lack of chassis stiffness and bought a Cerbera... which I loved but which still wasn't as nice as my 3.2[8D] so I came back to the fold.

It was, I was at the RR meet the morning after it put a hole in the crank case..............

IIRC it ran lean briefly. I did drive it albeit briefly which is why I went KWV3 and Weltmeister ARB`s - brilliant
