Ropey Turbo on Ebay.....

[:)][:)][:)]

The reactions in a couple of years when its "full photo resto" matching numbers, high spec, early turbo offered at £25k - will be interesting.

I've seen rougher 2.4's and RS's down the years.

It will sell quite soon I'd expect. As he says, it would break for most of that with LSD box etc.

Indeed. 944s have been too cheap for too long. Many other Classic cars of similar age,in similar condition, would be snapped up for that, and they don't have a Porsche badge.

That confuses me; Irish logbook (according to the advert) but German plates (with an 'IRL' motif in the corner) and RHD?

And was that colour interior standard?

Realistically, if it goes for £3k and the sills and some paintwork cost another £3k then it'll be a potentially decent turbo for less than £7k. Someone could do well out of it.

Oli.

I was kind of interested, but he says it has a misfire as well, could be a lot of expense or nothing at all. Looking at the state of it, I think £3K to sort the body is a tad low unless you're a fool like me who can do it yourself. I'd see it at £5K for a specialist to sort it.

it's an 86....that's worth the price no matter what the state..well within reason....could make someone a very nice car...i'd want to see it in person myself though.....:)

As likely to be an 1987 when bought from an 'inexperienced' vendor. Built or registered in 1986 does not necessarily make it a '1986'.

That confuses me; Irish logbook

Look carefully, German Fonts Irish Plate format: YY / County / Number : 86 MH 1234 (1986 / Co Meath / Number Identifier)

that 86 means " first reg 1986", which could be Sept 86 build (87 model year) and reg Oct 86

Regardless, it has potential if its not been wrapped round a tree in the past

Yes, the letter code would show the model year

IIRC 1986 was the biggest production year, then it tailed off....with another volume blip for the lumpy old 250 cars PSH will say from the sublimely light, stable agile, comfy, pew of his 220 [8D] (which is now far from 220 of course) [8|]

Even if you dropped £12000 into a full body and interior restoration the total spend would be £15,000 for a mint car with a fresh engine.

Really ? I didn't see that in the advert and he had it up for £16k I thought, wrong turbocharger and non sports seats too.

The ebay car Jim? Yes definite early offset originally, and the Cups & spacers would make sense.

There was an early offset car owned by Noble (Lee - sports car Co) which was EO but retrofitted with LO but that is very rare. The Strut tops shown on the ebay car are EO correct.

Not enough apparently. Negotiations ongoing. Anyone want a LHD 931 in what appears to be pretty good nick? He has one of those too.....

Surprised it didn't sell for £3k, unless it has history issues or other major issues.

Granted the bodywork needs attending to, but you could have the same issue with one for double the price, which hasn't been prodded yet ;)
