Silverstone evenings

Thanks for the compliments chaps!
I spoke to a Gary (Porsche Club Instructor) and he said exactly that - it is the highest risk area, replacing the woodcote / start finish straight.
However the TVR that got damaged did it at Copse.

I drove the white car for the first time in a few months today and I'd forgotten just how naughty it is [:D] I seemed to manage to cloak some of the roads around Luton with thick smoke [:)], seems it didn't appreciate the lay off but some fresh fuel and a bit of a run seems to have cleared it. Only concern is the oil pressure is even lower than before, but I'll see what happens after an oil change.

The MOT is booked for tomorrow (which it will fail - currently no headlights, horn etc), but fingers crossed there's nothing that can't be sorted out in time for Thurday.

there were no spaces left on Thursday when I checked last week so I wont be there driving, might well come up and beg some passenger rides / take some photos

Just after posting that I had an email to say I was down on the list!
See you Thursday!
with keys!

Nice one Tony [:D]

My MOT fail list ran to two pages [] but was mostly what I expected. As ever the guys at RPM are doing their best to get it ready in time, if not I'll be running in the 944S :ROFLMAO: (which could probably be a good thing given the white cars electrics hates rain and the forecast isn't looking so good).

Yurk! Oh well, think I'll need to work on a temporary shield around the air filter then, otherwise I'll be grinding to a halt somewhere on circuit!

Turn out should be pretty good, the guys from RPM will be there with a couple of their track cars plus some more of their customers and a friend will be along in his Boxster S.

Was busier today than I hoped so it still has the corsas on, supposed to be light rain tomorrow afternoon but I think will put the road wheels in just in case. might bring the keys with me this time as well [&:]

I think it's brightening up here, and hasn't rained for an hour or so [:D]
The white car is undergoing its retest at the moment (huge thanks to RPM as ever), fingers crossed it should scrape through (although I am quite looking forward to trying the 944S on a wet track if it fails).

Well it was wet!

Lots of nice cars, several 944s and 968s, and I took lots of piccs!

Some here - Silverstone in the rain

The day session was entirely Aston Martins - all current models including this -

Thanks for the entertainment chaps.

Well it was wet!

That does look wet! []

I've seen the Rapide around a lot locally (AM dealer near me). It's a very lovely thing to look at, but the rear seats look tighter than a 944. Why it gets compared to the proper 4-seater Panamera is beyond me.

Wow. This track day lark really is addictive isn't it! [:)]

This was my third track outing in the 944 and my first ever at Silverstone and in the wet.

Driving to the circuit the roads had completely dried out and I was starting to regret leaving the track tyres at home. Luckily for the tread blocks on my road tyres, the rain duly retuned just before we were due to head out.

I had always imagined the Silverstone circuit as huge expanses of tarmac, ready to dwarf venturing road cars. I'm sure the conditions had something to do with it, but gingerly turning into copse hunting out grippy patches of tarmac really made the white lines and curbs seemed very close indeed. My humble 160hp suddenly felt quite mighty!

Nice to meet you briefly Tony, Mike (great pics) and Peter.

Also, top marks to the organisers for a very well run event.

Before the winter I hope to attend the PCGB track day at Cadwell and maybe another Silverstone evening, if I can save enough pennies.

I've got quite a few pics of you in that lovely looking blue meanie!
Email your address to me at A9XXC@aol.com and I send a disc.
Cheers

Mike
