Well last night went very well. 944's were represented by myself and Simon D's track car, there was also a 968 (who at one point refused to move over for a couple of laps [8|]) and a good mix of road and race cars, many less than you normally see on a Silverstone evening meaning there was plenty of space if you could get away from the queues caused by the ill mannered minority.
The evening started with some drizzle making the track unbelievably slippery for the first few laps, but this went away quickly and I started to get back into the rhythm. After Oulton I was rather concerned with the cars setup, it was acting rather strangely there but at Silverstone it was fine. Ollie at RPM had made a few tweaks for me which seemed to have worked. It now has only a trace of understeer and none of the twitchy instability. The oil pressure is getting a bit too low, I saw 2.5 bar down Hangar Straight before I brought it in to cool down, I think I'll soon be looking for a spare bottom end to start a build, it used a litre and a half of oil, most of which I've just washed off the back of the car.
I did get some video, but I think it's all pretty uneventful, sadly the camera battery ran out before the 4th session so I missed taping some clear faster laps.
Numpty of the day went to the driver of an RS6, someone has already uploaded an example of his driving on
youtube, I reported him for a seperate bit of bad driving and the organisers acted very promptly. Rumour has it that he then went on to drive the Gallardo Spider that was there, we heard a massive tank slapper around Copse on the first lap and the engine gave up on the second, it was apparently a courtesy/demo car from a Lambo dealer... It did sound nice though!
