Slightly concerned about this colour choice…

Mark,

Just to say that I think any Porsche dealer probably will be able to offer a ceramic coating service, although I’d be inclined to find your own detailer to do the job unless you have high confidence in the tech doing the work for the dealership.

Here’s another question…. Had a pdk but have not had a manual… shall I go manual this time?

ive Always been so indecisive… although it’s fun picking the spec it’s so difficult this time lol

Mark,

My Cayman is just a fun car and not a daily drive and although I’ve driven a few PDK Caymans and Boxsters I’ve not had any desire to own a car with that transmission. It’s an excellent semi-automatic transmission but I just prefer the additional connection I get with a car having a 3-pedal layout and manual shift. Most probably I would warm to PDK if I owned such a car for an extended period, particularly if I was doing a much higher annual mileage, sometimes in slow-moving commuter traffic.

Only you can decide if a manual transmission will meet your driving needs. It’s a very good gearbox but requires a different level of engagement from the driver compared with PDK, which in itself responds well to spirited driving.

Jeff

Jeff… you are the voice of reason and knowledge :)… I’ve got a test drive in a manual tomorrow.. will be my first time trying it out :)

will let you know how it goes

Excellent! That’s the only way you’ll be able to find out whether or not the manual ‘box will suit your driving style and requirements Mark. You’ve had a lot of time with PDK so you should be able to make a well-judged comparison.

Hope the test drive goes well. Don’t forget to use the clutch! 😀

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

the test drive went well! Loved the manual gear box… the general interaction with the car was exhilarating as I’ve never driven a fast manual before.

certainly one to think about as I use it as a daily so although yesterday was certainly more pleasing to spiritedly drive through the B roads I have to weigh up if that’s worth the hour in traffic I spend every morning.

it’s better to drive though 100%

Pleased that the test drive went well Mark.

It’s a difficult decision for you bearing in mind that the car will be your daily drive, but at least you’ve sampled the manual ’box. Unfortunately only you can decide which type of transmission will best meet your needs.

Decisions, decisions! [:(]

Finally its been delivered and I'm really happy with it - I would say its a interesting stealthy colour - sometimes looks grey - green - gold.. It changes depending on the light which is nice.

That looks lovely. It’s one thing being different, but when you do something different and it works so well….👍

Did you go for the grey interior as well?

Looks good Mark. The silver wheels suit it well. Most AG cars I’ve seen have had black wheels.

Definitely tempted to get this colour next if I can.

Dan

Hi John - I went for the black interior in the end - really happy with it … fallen in love with the colour and couldn’t be happier - thank you :)

Cheers Dan - yeah I’ve seen most with black wheels to…

it’s nice to have the silver wheels as they really pop as the colour is quite dark.

really happy with how it’s turned out

:)

It really is a gorgeous colour, and silver wheels set it off perfectly. I see you’ve gone for black calipers which is a good move too, as I don’t think red work. (Yellow of course look great!)

Thank you… I think they come standard as black… really happy with how it’s come out… felt like a bit of a risk going for that colour but glad it did 😬
