South Coast Meet - Sept 18th

Just done the Meet drive again to pre-empt the 18th, Hastings to Brighton, about 45 miles, along the coastal road and it really is better than I remembered. Hastings (10.30-11.30), Bexhill, Pevensey, Eastbourne, and up onto the South Downs Country Park and Beachy Head (12.30) for a break/walk. From there down to Brighton Marina (13.30) (sorry just stuck some approx times in if anyone is going to join en-route), the parking there is free and the complex (built literally in the sea) is very extensive, just right for a seafront lunch.. loads of choice from good restaurants and shopping... designer outlets or Asda and refuelling. Brighton centre and seafront will be fun, today it was heaving, absolutely solid, its a two lane drive through from us along the whole length of the seafront strip, there will be spectators galore. Parking is in NCP just past the pier next to the Thistle hotel on the right (obviously) large wet place on the left! No way will we get parking spaces together... every man and woman for themselves.

Having done the whole run again today Im confident this is a top day out!

John Simms has done a great job getting loads of people involved, already doubling last years turnout.

Bon Soir,

As is usual in these cases make an offer as I have no idea what it's worth. It's still ever so slightly attached to my car but I can address that to fit your paint schedule rather than mine and run with a fibreglass one unpainted in true Barryboys style.

I forgot to say yesterday I may not make the meet now - one of my front wishbone bushes has broken up and it is now in the hands of Powerflex to send me a replacement before the car is driveable again.

As costs are still racking up, it does seem a bit daft to buy a badge panel with holes in it when I could put holes in mine for free. I would like to see yours in the flesh though to make a final decision as to whether I get the jigsaw to mine or not.

I have to admit that I'm not discounting fitting a Lindsey header panel myself. Again, I'd like to see one in the flesh first.

That makes sense. It'll be on the car if I make it next week. Obviously the Lindsey one will not, of course.

Hi Keith, I know the route well - it's a good run - especially the Eastbourne to Seaford bit over Beachy Head.

Looking forward to meeting up next weekend.

Phil

Pretty certain I won't be there now [] The PowerFlex bush on the other wishbone is quite far along the road to failing in the same way [][][FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]They have been really good so far in sending out replacements for the ones they sent in error initially and one to replace the first failed one so I don't doubt I'll probably have a second replacement pretty soon, though probably not in time to be fitted and realigned by Sunday.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]My concern now of course is that it will happen again. Sending out new bushes every 5 weeks to replace failed ones won't be a satisfactory long term means of addressing the problem. I guess time will tell but short of there being a bad batch I can't see why the new ones won't do the same as the old ones did.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I was going to suggest that this was yet another Fen "no show" but then realised it was me who didn't turn up at Silverstone [&:].

Sorry to hear the beast is still poorly but still hope to see it in all its glory soon.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I'm really glad I made it to Silverstone - at least Paul, Rick, Mark D and Peter are trusted sources who can confrm the car is not just some Walter Mitty fantasy [8D][FONT=verdana,geneva"]

I have had the rear welts for years just wasn't that keen on fitting them after the fronts broke up. The front welts did require machining as they said there were too many variations so they manufacture oversize.

Should be a great run - assuming we can all get fuel of course. []
Got petrol here, and no queues. Forecast is sunny and 19 degrees. Anyone needing a fill up on arrival let me know, and we ll do a mini-convoy to BP or similar. En route theres little opportunity so dont leave Hastings with a low tank. Regards,

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Tend to agree. When my car was being mapped we talked fuel and BP ultimate came out below Esso Super with Optimax the clear winner.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

No you can't! And if you try any more I shall delete them, so I still win. [:D]

Any road up - if anybody other than me was coming over the QEII Bridge, we could meet at the services on the north side @ 9:00am

My mobile is 0788 7791913, should you wish to interface with me verbally.

John,

If anyone else is coming from South London, how about the Crawley junction of the M23?

John,

Coming around the M25 clockwise, we will actually exit the M25 at junction 5 onto the A21 which we will then follow pretty much all the way to Hastings.

According to Autoroute, assuming we depart Lakeside services at 09:06 (some hope) we will join the A21 at 09:21.

Spookily, Autoroute also suggests that you would use the A21 coming anticlockwise around the M25 (That's a kind of polite way of saying "What the hell are you doing going down the M23?" [;)])
