Southern Meet Hastings/Brighton

Hi All,
Who would be up for a Meet on the South East Coast in the next couple of months?
We met last in 2005, (and I had to renage last year for health reasons). The post is an open one for suggested dates, venues and itinerary. But I guess a Sunday is always best.
In previous years we`ve met in Hastings and driven to Battle Classic Car Show with our cars on exhibition there, and the following year a convoy to Brighton Marina. Members from London, Essex and of course Sussex and Kent have joined in. The Meet originated from Titanic and I`ll put a similar post there.
You might like to consider Dover, Hastings, Brighton as venues, there are OPC`s at Tonbridge and Burgess Hill who would host coffee breaks.
So, anyone up for a trip to the seaside post here!

It's harder for the date to be good for me, but in principle I'm up for it. Unlikely it would be in the '44 though if that's a requirement.

944 not a requirement...even blue cars welcome[:D] it would be nice to see you again Fen, and I`m absolutely up for date suggestions so if a date(s) particularly suits fire away...

(I`m on hols in Darzet next week with modest internet access so if I don`t contribute to this post til next weekend please don`t think I`m being ignorant.)

A blue car I can do. I don't have any specific good dates and the only bad ones are Easter weekend that I can think of just now; it's more to do with how appealing or otherwise being away on a given Sunday is after being away the week before and the week after.

Count me in, any time provuided I have a bit of notice. Used to enjoy my 911 drives out with A23, which stopped when I did. Funny that.

Sounds good depending on the date will be there maybe some others from 25 would also be interested.Eastbourne is a good place to end up you always have the Beachy Head option if big numbers arrive?

22nd April maybe??? Actually 29th suits as well if not better...what do you think?

...any particular requests for places of interest/breaks/visits...?

If I throw in some previous suggestions...Madeira Drive, and The Laines, Brighton. Rye and Camber Sands. Beachy Head, OPC Burgess Hill for a coffee break, we seem to meet first off at Hastings Old Town Fishing "Port". Eastbourne is indeed in the mix between Brighton and Hastings. I guess everyone wants to see the beach and the sea[:D]

Where`s eveyone coming from and what would you like to see?

22nd is the PCGB Cotswold Rally which several of us are doing.

29th is the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club London to Brighton Run which Rick and I are doing - I appreciate that that is only two of the 944 Crew but Madeira drive will be shut off for Jaguar use only. Do you really want to be cruising around the South Coast with a load of beardies with string back driving gloves and tweed caps?

So after the 29th I guess a weeks break after all that frenetic string glove driving and we`re up to May 6th, another Bank Holiday Monday.
Would that suit with no work (for most) on Monday?
The later in the year the better the weather[8|]

The BH weekend might be good for me. My main problem with Sunday is that I have to drive to the event and home on Sunday, then get up at sparrowfart on Monday to drive to work for the week.

Yes, I thought on previous occasions it`s a fair drive to the South Coast for some guys,as I know from my own journeys North to various Porsche "do`s". Sundays tend to be best because "domestics" can be sorted on the Saturday. A finale 4pm ish leaves a bit of time to get home at a reasonable hour.

If it is any help, I`ll mention, as on previous occasions that if anyone would like to stay overnight at any of the destinations, on Saturday or Sunday nights, let me know at kmarkwaller@aol.com and I`ll be pleased to work with you on some good hotel accomodation.

That BH will be busy down here so could folks get their thinking caps on.

Will have to check with my Social Sec. but belive the 6th works for me. (I might have my car back by then at least [:(])

Hi KEITH :)

Thanks for the invitation to the run at the 928 forum...

I doubt I personally will be able to make it as its a little far from Bournemouth and my car is BLUE lol......but appreciate the invite....I will pin the invite to the top for a while..in case any 928ers in your area would like to attend :)

All the best Brett :)

I can't make the 6th - I'll be in Minsterley producing 000's of lb/ft energy from my rifles and .357 magnum [:D] [:D] [:D]

Hiya Rick.

Mean`t to ask you why the car was full of guns last time we met on the M40? Hmmm OK move on...
what date(s) work?
