Southern Meet Hastings/Brighton

Assuming my turbo cab. is not sold. And i'm not trying very hard to sell it then I'd certainly be up for Goodwood-Hastings. Has anything been decided yet? Keith are you out there?

May well be able to come along to this all things being equal. Has a definite start location been decided yet ?

If I do manage to come a Thurrock staging point sounds good to me !

I like the idea of going to Goodwood for the morning, followed by a late lunch in Hastings and then an afternoon run for an evening meal in Brighton. What about it Keith?

The above may assist in getting more Porsches as there are a few from Essex going to Goodwood who might then come on to Brighton.

Are you aware it's one of the Goodwood breakfast meetings on June 3rd. - supercars.

Yup cos thats where I`ll be that day in the 951 and my mate in his 360 spyder. See y`all there [:)]

My start location will be "home" but I will then go to Thurrock. :ROFLMAO:

It is a bit tricky as we are still waiting to hear from Keith if he wants to piggy back the Goodwood meet. Can you remember what time the R11 bunch were suggesting meeting @ Thurrock for Goodwood?

No 'fraid not. I rather zoned out of the goings on at that point as I was still distracted by the sight of Rocks ceramic masterpieces [;)]

Is a bit of trek for me but sounds like it will be good craic so want to make the effort. Only fly in the ointment is that I may be double booked as am supposed to be going to Devon visiting friends either that weekend or the next. Which one it is to be is as yet unconfirmed [&:]

Apologies for the delayed reply.

Yep, Goodwood sounds really great to me, I will be there.

Maybe then a drive to Brighton for a promenade and a lunch. Those who want to drive on to Hastings with me in the afternoon are more than welcome (Personally, I`ld quite like to come back to Brighton after Hastings for a 944 evening dinner there?), but you may prefer to stay in Brighton for the afternoon and all get together for the 944 Brighton dinner.

If that all hangs together for you, I`ld be more than happy to tie up a few details for us, like a lunch booking or evening dinner in Brighton. Suggestions welcome...

Apologies again for the delayed reply.

Excellent news - sounds like it is going to be a great (and very full) day.

I might fore go the final Brighton meal as it is a fair run back for a Sunday evening, Lunch in Brighton and Tea in Hastings will do me a treat though. I think the run back from Hastings is better than trying to get back from Brighton any way [;)]

Excellent...I threw in the evening meal as a wild card...perhaps breakfast at Goodwood, lunch in Brighton then tea in Hastings is sufficient[:)]

Thanks for organising this Keith, can't wait (although I'll probably not feel quite the same when I'm having to get up so early on Sunday morning [;)]).

Cheers John, I'm in no rush, they'll only end up costing me more money in the long run [;)]

I plan to be at the Ace at the end of the month, so if you like I can remind you then to bring them to Goodwood with you :ROFLMAO:

If this is still happening on the 3 June, it might be worth knowing it's Sussex summer event at Borde Hill (about 10 minutes off the A23), might want to throw it open to them, if you fancy a slow drive! Busy weekend really.

I think the area is such that no matter what weekend was chosen there was either something else happening in the area or it clashed with something else somewhere else that everyone was going to. Such is life with a busy 944 Register [;)]

After much shunting and moving and changing I would respectfully suggest we either do the 3rd or it ain't gunner happen at all; which would be a big shame.

So see you all on the 3rd then.

My view was that, yes, there is always loads going on in the late spring/early summer months, and that is the great period for a drive along the Coast, in whatever format.

I have posted this thread some while ago elsewhere(s) to pick up on those who would like to meet up in Sussex, and to be honest could shunt the date about indefinitely, but I suggest we stick with the 3rd June.

It is clearly going to be a great turnout, and the weather is going to be glorious, as per all previous Southern Meets[:)]

Thanks All,

for your support, and look forward to old faces and new,

I haven't read the whole thread just gleaned a few bits.

Seems you are talking about going to the Goodwood Breakfast Club on June 3rd. Then driving to Brighton for some lunch or dinner.

That sounds like a good day out to me.

However a word of warning, don't take the coast road from Goodwood to Brighton it's a pisser.

Instead go inland from Goowood to Petworth and then go parrallel to the coast via Storrington and Washington try and aim for the north side of the Devils Dyke and go over the Dyke into Hove. Bloody good drive,

I'm sure I've missed a few bits but if you want I'll give you a more precise route. I might even join you.

The road east out of Petworth is the A272 - but be careful as it's a 'rat run' for bikers and the Police are quite hot on it!
