Southern Meet Hastings/Brighton

Hi Big Les,

Yes there`s a list about 7-ish posts ago if you scroll back. Now with a couple of additions.

I`ll be in a Silver 944 on Southern Irish plates Reg SCZ*922 make sure you say hello. Mob. 07766920227. I`m the tall really good looking bloke[:D] in Levis and black leather jacket with scruffy haircut and a really big...nose[:)]. Everybody say hello...

I`m deffo going but will have to catch up with y`all at Goodwood. Amazingly the wife has said she will accompany me as my son is now going to Santa Pod in his Mk 1 Golf to see the `Performance Vauxhall` show [&:][&o]

Onto Brighton etc is uncertain as we `may` be with some friends in a Boxster and 360 and I`ll have to show them the way home IYKWIM [;)] if not then I fancy a trip to the coast.

I have modified the list accordingly. If people with Boxsters and 360's can't find their own way home they deserve to be left in the middle of nowhere.

The weather here is glorious, clear blue skies shining over a sparkling English Channel. The forecast is the same for tomorrow. The roads have been remarkbly free of traffic so we`re all set fair for a great drive.

Can I pre-empt the drive with a big thanks to John S who has done so much over the past 4 years to "open up" the South Coast to 944 enthusiasts through his support for this run.

Rumour is that he will bring his trunks tommorow for a dip in the sea.[8D]

No Boxster, me & missues in 951 & mate in F360 see y`all there.

If people with Boxsters and 360's can't find their own way home they deserve to be left in the middle of nowhere.

I meant that mine`s quicker [;)][;)][8D]

Well - it was a 'Glorious Goodwood' and a 'Blazing Brighton' today. I enjoyed the day very much. Thanks Keith.

Ditto the above. An excellent day all round.

Great turn out with a special mention for John (suffolk944) who must have travelled the furthest , unless Rock or Peter E did? Either way, well done chaps.

I'm now going to download my pictures and see what I got.

Thanks again to Keith.

Thanks again Keith.
A fantastic day out, and finishing it at Beachy Head was perfect.
Already looking forward to next year [:D]

Well done Keith - a good turnout at Goodwood (nice to see the display of 944's), and you arranged the ideal weather! Good to put some faces to names. And an enjoyable run to Brighton - sorry I couldn't stop for lunch but my Sunday morning pass from SWMBO had expired.

Had an excellent time - was well worth the trek down from the wilds of East Anglia. Thanks to Keith for organising it and everyone else for making it such a great day.

Good to hear it was a good day. I have had a fever since Saturday so had to take it easy Sunday, hopefully will be feeling better by Wednesday which if OK I will be booking on for Snetterton, see you guys there.

Go for it [8D]

.....but don't tell anyone as there is only 16 people booked in so far and we want to keep it nice and quiet [;)]

Your absence was noted and you were much missed - you would have particularly enjoyed the tunnels under the marina car park. [:D][:D]

Thank you all for coming to the meet, absolutely fantastic to talk to you, let`s do it again next year.

Goodwood was a brilliant place to meet so thanks for that idea.

For me the most enjoyable part of any event is the drive out on the open road with other 944`s. Driving your own car all the time one forgets how truly awesome our cars look in action. It was THAT look that led me to purchase my first 944.

Quote of the day goes to a most sincere passing gentleman tourist in Brighton where our cars formed an impromptu semi-circle in the display arena at the Marina...

Pointing to the cars the authorative gentleman excitedly clutched the arm of his lady wife and pronounced with the automotive experience of many years:

"Look Rosemary, I didn`t know today was Ferrari Day!"

Thanks guys, c ya[:D]

Quote of the day for me was from a young nipper who was looking at Ricks car "Oh look! a rally 944!" [:D] made me chuckle.

Thanks again Keith.

Peter were you parked behind me in the car park behind the shell building?

Got there with my mate Jon in his 360 spyder too late as the marshalls let him in and turned me away. Pity really as mines marginally quicker than his [&o]

Highlight of the day was dicing with the Black Carrera GT for a few miles on the M25 [8D] I`ve never seen so many drivers using their phone cameras to photograph it (us) [;)]

My fave car...........the Ultima Canam, one of the rarest was the MG super powerful thingy (never seen one in the flesh before), most unusual was the Bitter and the oddest was the old VW powered Nova kit car.

Yes I think that was me, I did wonder who's car that was. Looked great in the sunshine.

Must agree about the Ultima, although I'd prefer a roof on mine. Would also settle for the Spyker for posing and an F40 or one of the 964RS's for driving.
