Still looking for a 3.2 CC

I'm not getting too excited, but I think I have found one. Beautiful original condition, goes well, everything works and it seemed to handle just fine around the damp country lanes that I was thrown around this afternoon!

Deposit has been left and I pick it up on Saturday. I won't post any pics until I actually have it in my possesion, tempting fate and all that.

Hurrah!

Cheers Iain ... came from your namesake, even same spelling :)

Can anyone direct me to a website where I can get genuine Carrera side decals please? Not the one with the stripe running through, just the script.
ta.

Kind of a girly question [;)] but what colour car and what stripes are you going to add.

PS - I love Carrera stripes, great call. Very retro cool.[:)][:)][:)]. I know 'Mikez' on Pelican sells them cheap if you can't get what you want in the UK.

I have emailed Andy Boyle thanks John.

Richard, I am looking for a dark red as opposed to the bright red. What is Pelican's web site please?

Thank the Lord, you have found one, Im sure its worth the wait and hassle and also that despite the fact that you have not got it yet, you are already spending money on it.....welcome to the club.
I know that Porscheshop do the carrera decals...hang on i will check their url as I have used them before.................
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk
I know they do them as they are in the catalogue.
My jury is out on the side decals...do they look naff or not. White car with dark red decals and colour coded wheel spokes....all that says is that I wish I had a CS. I think they belong on 2.7RS's but thats only my opinion (humble)...which means for future reference, no-one can slag me off for it.
Seriously though I remember the pleasure and anticipation and am delighted that you have found your dream..........enjoy[;)]
regards
Graham

Mine were from Porscheshop = expensive. Would not give them my money again when same stuff is available for half the price.

The 74 Carreras had the Carrera stripes, so there is a link to the impact bumper cars. I like the Carrera stripe as it looks retro cool. Makes the car look less 80s and more 70s. It also visually lowers and lengthens the car which os a good thing as the doors are otherwise and unbroken slab - no Bangle flame surfacing ! Maybe I am weird, I don't like black centred Fuchs as it hides the details and makes the wheels look smaller than 16 inch. With silver centres, I get asked all the time if my Fuchs are 17s - even by Porsche people.

Wanna be CS? Don't they have unobtainium Clubsport stripes?

As my Italian friends say, "you must express yourself". Don't be scared to show your style and make the car unique.

Sorry the picture is massive but ain't it cool?

Yeah baby [;)]

James 'Gone in 60 Seconds' Melhuish fitted the Andy Boyle sidescript to his retro-964-RS 911PW cover car IIRC, he reckons the stuff available elsewhere in the UK (so not including Mikez) is pretty poor compared to what Andy has.

er, I do![:D]

I would not stick something on the car that could not be very easily reversed, but I think that GPW with red Carrera and wheels just looks lovely and, as Richard says, very retro. Good job you didn't decide to let yours go Beaky, it would have got the orange treatment ala paul Stephens retro look![:D] I'm not going to stick a CS decal on or pretend it is anything other than what it is... let's face it, there are shed loads of 3.2s out there with Carrera down the side.

Thanks for all the links guys. I just have to be careful that I get the correct typeface as some that I have seen are not quite right.

Not any more!

911 SXP is at last residing in my garage.

It goes for its new set of Goodyear Eagles tomorrow ready for its first run on Sunday.

It is so good to have something to go into the garage and stare at again [:)]

It's a bit mucky from its run down from Darlington but once it is nice and shiney I will post pics.

GPW, 1988, 87,000 miles, fully stamped history with a receipts/documents file to match, well known and vouched for car by Strasse, in great condition with a truly immaculate interior, 9 months test, 6 months tax, £13,500.

Yes, I am giddy!

Just remains for me to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of you that chipped in with experiences, advice, patient cajoling, understanding, even bewilderment at times ... now, I'm sure I saw a nice white Carrera with Martini stripes somewhere .... [;)]

I love the GPW / Red Fuchs combination. This is my 84 Coupe, doesn't it look gorgeous!!

When I bought the car eight years ago it already had the red centred 7s/8s and the carrera flashes. I have always loved the GPW/red combination but have to admit that I was all set to take the carrera decals off straight after I bought the car; I have a problem with non-standard cosmetic adornments on any car. In view of the fact that the 2.7 Carrera and (I believe??) the subsequent 3.0 carrera could be supplied with the decals then that was just enough justification for me to keep them on my early 3.2. Having made the decision to keep the look I even replaced the decals with a new "fresh" set. BE VERY CAREFUL - I was horrified at the cost of the decals, even eight years ago I paid about £80 I think for a fresh correct set. Initially I rang around quite a few other places to see if I could get a sensible price and was offered decals by a recognised 911 parts specialist (honestly can't remember who it was) at a fraction of this cost. I duly took delivery of these bargain stripes and went to apply ..... Oh dear....... The quality looked fine but the carrera script length was a couple of cm longer than it should be. This meant that on the nearside for example to get the large C starting a few cm from the front edge of the door the script would be cut through the second r and not exactly between the second r and the last a as it should be. Fortunately I realised before starting to apply the decals and sent them back as faulty. When I finally got the proper items I was about to fit them myself but was told off by a friend in the refinishing trade for thinking it was a straightforward job. He gave me hand, and a few tips and together we did the job in about half an hour. It helps if there are two of you!

The GPW/Red combo is one of the best. The day I collected my car I went over to PCGB @ Reading where they had a 2.7RS, CS & GT3RS all in those colours along side each other. Looked fab.

It's a peach Andrew [;)] and yours of course Mr T but you know I love those cars

Let's face it, they're all gorgeous, we're all very lucky boys, and girls (Nicola)

Nice one TC.

I wouldn't dream of putting CS decals on, but as the Carrera flash was a factory option, and hundreds of 3.2 have them I can see no reason not to. (unless I could find someone to put Martini stripes on but I think that will be a near impossible search!)

Where did you get yours from? I am just about to order a set from Andy Boyle which i would hope would fit correctly.
