Suspension & Brake refresh

Simon, You are worrying me now! I placed order over phone, enquired and double checked with them that these will fit my 87 S car, I checked on www.larkspeed.com - www.motorsportworld.co.uk - www.demon-tweeks.co.uk - www.europerformance.co.uk. and they all state for 86> cars, Spax product code is TAP314

Worst case senario: distance selling regs mean that youll get a full refund including carriage outwards if you return the kit in line with the rules. Youll get return postage too unless theyve nmade it your responsibility in their T&Cs. Hopefully it wont come to that, but unfortunately I cant remember what it is that was changed for 1985. One change (series one to series two) is the size of the mounting hole at the base of the front strut. Asking Jon Mitchell on TIPEC might be the best course of action. Bert Gear will know too, but he isnt a frequent visitor, unfortunately. Simon

The bolt spacing is a bit different and the vertical mounting part of the hubs are different thicknesses , think the later ones are thinner, Tony

Morning fellers, Ok rang Spax direct, they don't make the PSX kit (which I've ordered) for a pre 86 car only the RSX kit (which is the coilover kit) the only requirements are: A) 18mm Bracket spring on front dampers B) Aluminium Rear arms Now I know I have B, but don't know about A?

Yes, all series two cars (1986 model year onwards) and 924Ss have aluminium rear arms. I wonder why so many manufacturers, as GAZ were guilty of this too, use a fitment list which only includes 1982-1984 model year 944s? Did you find them helpful/pleasant/knowledgeable? Ive always wondered why many fitments are 'not for Turbo/S2'. Simon

Very helpful and pleasant lady, would not be fair to comment on being knowledgeable as I'am not! Just found out from home that they have been delivered [:)] didn't expect them that quick What are you thoughts / comments on the 18mm bracket on the front, I take it I should have this??

I honestly dont know, as a 'bracket spring' sounds a little like a 'flange key' - rather generic and meaningless if youre starting from scratch. Hopefully someone else will be more enlightened. Alasdair is good with this sort of thing, in my experience. If you read his Al, can you think of any reason why damper kits which incorporate front springs are listed as 'all except Turbo/S2'? Simon

Edd, Going to change them myself also having the calipers off, sent away for refurb new brake hoses etc and then geo. Be nice and ready for 25-3-13 [8D]

Right, a little miffed to be honest Unpacked the kit this morning and found that the fronts are dampers only, I was expecting complete struts[] Now is this just me or is this standard? I was only going by the pictures on the websites of every supplier so phone call to Spax on Monday. I have in the kit: 2 rear shocks 2 front springs 2 front dampers The kits all show complete struts on the websites!

Do some websites not state that product images are 'for illustration purposes only'? Or something to that effect. The detailed product description is what I would check against.

Well what they actually say is "product may differ in appearance" not you don't get the strut just the damper in the picture! I just think somewhere I have mis-interpreted what the kit consists of, but I will check on Monday

Im confused too, becuae another member has the PSX kit, with the only difference between it and the RSX kit being the rear cilover. They told me that Spax offered to convert the rear to coilovers and the cost then brought them inline with the RSX offering. From this I would conclude that the PSX kit did indeed contain complete front struts with 2.25" ID springs.

This is the kit for 86-91 cars and is the set up I have on my car.

ORIGINAL: 944Scott Whats the model number of the kit, if its RSX104 then it should include springs.
The kit I have brought is the PSX, I thought you had the RSX which is the coilover kit?

I thought that Scott had the PSX, and I thought that it was Scott who told me about Spaxs PSX to RSX rear coilover upgrade too.

I have RSX kit which only comes with springs for the front but can be upgraded to coilovers on the rear also.

To confirm, RSX 104 - coilover front, shocks rear RSX 118 - coilover front and rear PSX - adjustable dampers front and rear Sorry Scott I hadn't realised there were 2 types of RSX kit
