Here goes, the first post on the 2012 PCGB Club Championship.

Dates announced, all double headers except Silverstone

May 5th -- Brands Hatch Indy
June 2nd -- Oulton Park
June 30th -- Donington Park
July 21st -- Croft
August 11th -- Oulton Park International (TBC)
August 27th -- Castle Combe
Sept 21/22 -- Silverstone Arena GP Triple Header

So from 2011 we have one less round, we have lost Thruxton & Rockingham and gained a 2nd Oulton

The updated Regs are out as well. The main point of interest is that a 968 can run in either Class 1 or Class 2 ! In the latter case there is a weight penalty of 30kg compared to Class 1. Am pondering all the options as I type ....................

Very late start to the season. Not bad though as it gives everyone more time to prepare. Great calendar for northerners as well, that is some great tracks.

Its got to be tempting Paul. The weight difference means a very slightly better power to weight ratio for the 968. However to my mind the main point is the extra power with near enough identical aero drag to an S2 should give you that edge on long straights. Certainly seemed to be the case at Silverstone anyway as granted there ain't really much difference in other situations.

Neil - hi. The question on which class to enter hinges upon a) whether amassing points in Class 2 will be easier than Class 1 and b) whether mixing it from Class 2 somehow devalues the sporting challenge of racing in the championship. What say you? Yes, it is a long time until May 5th - what am I going to do with myself! Steve - hi. Just keep an eye on here as there might be a change or two in the list of events. These things are prone to the odd change.

ORIGINAL: paulf968 I am pencilling in the Goldtrack day at Silverstone on Feb 4th ...... one for you as well?
Great. I'll be there too in a rented Elise Trophy car for tuition.

I hope so mate. Bit of a funny situation for me right now as I am starting another job in the new year. Might be moving house sometime around then. Seems I am going to have to crack on and learn Oulton. Silverstone is ideal for me though as its a track I can use a benchmark. Also important as I was useless in a couple of corners (mostly the slower ones). If only every race track had no slow 90 degree + corners I would be set [:D]. I won't rest until I have that whole circuit licked.

collected my car today after it's engine and gearbox refresh ........ sounds so smooth and responsive but does still need to be run in, so waiting until 4th Feb will be one big struggle at this end. ....... "well constable, you are correct my racecar is not taxed and insured BUT I just could not wait until February to give her a run around the block, I hope you understand" .......... Steve - regarding the Oulton RS Day with Easytrack, certainly a must visit event - 9th March I assume. Is it open to the general public yet or still just for previous attendees?

Paul. Bad news. It's already fully booked! Tim of Easytrack put the booking link on the 964RS forum. I guess you guys didn't see it. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=661201 I think you can contact Easytrack and ask to go on the reserve list (there's bound to be a few drop out before the day).

You could always enter the CSCC Deutsche Marque 40 min race at Snetterton on either April 14th or 15th! And if you are down at Brands for the 5th May then CSCC are there on the 7th.

bumping this up as the 2012 thread already running ......... Paul '964RS glad to see you out again, this time in a 944 - you'll have mucho fun

Had a bit of a palaver recently getting my car ready, still though should be on the track soon. I have decided to get it fully race ready and just do what I can before May. Started out with the intention of doing a few track days in it long before the season kicks off but first the weather, then minor annoying technical hiccups and lastly the scourge of the self employed (don't spend any more until the next FY) have all kicked in. This season looks like a corker guys, seems to be more ppl coming out than recent years.

Neil, ..... now the big question is will you be entering this championship in 2012 ? Be fun having you join the party.

Neil. Sometimes youve just got to jump in with both feet.... Never mind the excuses.....In fact it sounds like your a racer already,,[;)][;)][;)] Youl be telling us theres leaves on the "line /track" next......[;)][:D][;)] You can only play soooo many computer sims.....[;)][;)][;)] Buy the time you get racing youl have to enter the S2 in a "classic" race...[;)][;)] Hee Hee ,, just kidding.....
