The Power of 4 (Camp4, that is)

DSC_0147104.jpg

Good luck guys the prize is a good one

Quiz questions answered - fingers crossed!

(FWIW I think the answers are 1 - 3.1km, 2 Everything except offroad, 3 Camp 4)

Good luck everyone.

Phone call today from Porsche.

Turns out I won the entry for OPC Cambridge.

So, if the three of you are still interested, please let me know; it will be a full day at Silverstone on Sept 22nd from 0830-1630 driving the full model range on all the circuits. The highest scoring team of the day (11 other teams) will win the trip to Camp4.

Quick update.

We all went to Silverstone yesterday and I think I can speak for everyone when I said we had an excellent time. Clive, I know your team came third, and were pipped into second by ... my team! We were only 9pts short of winning and had it not been for a total balls-up on the off-road section (less said the better) I think we would have had it won. Never mind - there's always next year. Clive/Paul/etc - hope you enjoy your pens. Rod, Darren - great to meet you. Let's try and go one better next year - enjoy the consolation prizes ;-)

Matt,

Very well done. A good result. I trust you'll celebrate in the traditional manner using your coffee-cup prize with something other than coffee. [:)]

Our Achillies Heal was the Batak machine (3 elderly participants and 1 bad back!) [:D] With a good score there. it may have been different! [;)] Actually, we were all in contention since fourth place was quite a bit further back.

Still a great day out and we're very happy. Offered third place at the start, we would have taken it, I think. [;)]

Our thanks to Bristol OPC for their support. They even provided a vehicle with "OAP" on the number plate! [:D]

Regards,

Clive.

It was a great day out. Our team did well on the driving sections where our experience was put to good use but as Clive said the advancing years killed us on the Batak machine. I got to drive a Cayman R, a GT3 RS, A Pamerra Turbo, a 911 GTS, a Boxter Spyder, numerous other 911's and so was a great opportunity to drive some of Porsches best vehicles. A great way for Porsche to promote their brand and a very well organised day. What was Finnish for 911 again?

+1 on that
A fantastic fun day
Back is still not good
Hopefully the break to yorkshire should help
A big thankyou to silverstone and Bristol opc

Ahem! I think you are forgetting the simulator too Bob![;)] Who were the mysterious winning yellow team who had allegedly departed early for a flight and were not present at the result giving? A likely story if you ask me![:D]
Great day all round and quite exhausting for us old folk! Big thanks to one and all.

We were sadly robbed by a team of racing drivers(otherwise known as ringers).
One of the best days I've ever had at the centre.
We can compare numbers at the next get together.
I was pleased with my Batak effort! I was dreading it!!!

Probably the same bunch that made off before the end of our day then.................[;)][:D]

I went on Monday as a lucky guest. What a superb day out, thoroughly enjoyed it. To finish the afternoon in a Spyder on the handling circuit with an instructor telling me how to drive it properly was one of life's great driving experiences!!

88 on the Batak was credible I thought. Our team won the quiz section too on the day but ended up with a mid-table rank, not helped by our nominated driver spinning the GT3RS earning us nul points for that bit!!

Slip sliding a GT3RS with an instructor egging you on was a highlight, never quite made the full 360degrees, there's too much grip on those Corsas!

A really great day out if quite intense.

I forgot to mention that Alan did a brilliant job on the Simulator being top dog on the day with a very impressive time and was also our top scorer on the Batak monster. Obviously he had a misspent youth and spent far too long on the X box and is used to waving his arms around at flashing red lights. I struggled with both preferring the sideways comfort of the RS

Good luck to those that won and I hope they dont see too much of this as CAMP 4 is about driving not waving your arms around or trying not to use any fuel:

WHAT!!?!?!

At about 3pm I was told that I was fastest time of the day with a 1m 35.888 lap - did he beat that and if so by how much?

Have to say I think the prize dropoff from Finland Trip --> Espresso Cups --> Pen was a bit severe :(

Highlight of the day for me - GT3 RS. Sliding that 540 degrees round the circle, then powersliding halfway to the first of the three hairpins, then sliding it through the second hairpin and continuing it 'seamlessly' (his words not mine lol) into the third ... never thought I would achieve it but what a feeling!!! More by luck than judgment I fear but epic nontheless :)
