Just popping in to email. I have finally safely picked it up and she is tucked away safe in the drive with the keys under my pillow so as correctly guessed in the end by many and early on by one man. The car I bought was WUF Rick's big red turbo.

First impressions are its going to take a long time to get used to driving something like this and its a totally different ball game to anything I've owned before. My first impressions driving around town and at sub 5k rpm even at full throttle was its definitely better, more responsive and smoother than a standard car everywhere (probably mainly to do with the lack of restriction from the original barn door sensor) but a long long way off the 3.2 for mid range grunt and throttle response. Honestly it feels no where near as quick as my old car, and in a real world race I'd question hard how it would fair. I was actually feeling a little disappointed with its grunt until I finally decided to drop it into second and give it a 'careful' bootfull out of a roundabout onto a duel carrigeway. OMFG I have never in my life experienced power delivery like than and my neck muscles are KILLING me still. For anyone who's expereinced Rita at Alton towers I can tell you the launch is smooth in comparison to the way WUF takes off when she hits full boost.

Like I said I'd question how quick it'd be in a real world race situation but whilst those huge fat rears keep traction, keep it on boost and whip it through a few gears. It'll put a smile on your face like no other car and I'd question what you would need to keep up with it. I have certainly never felt a delivery like that before in any car I've known.. feels like it pulls about 3g's. It's been built for fun this car not racing and boy does it deliver on that front. Plus as the driver of the car following me confirmed, it certainly does spit some impressive flames when you throttle off[:)]

Very mean looking beast. Let us have the specs when you have time.

Im liking that badge panel mod and the bonnet vent.

So the secret is out [:D]

Very, very nice buy Ben, I'll make sure to keep off the Northamptonshire roads whilst your getting used to it :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Full build history is on Rick's site. There might be one or two pictures.....[;)]

Looks VERY odd seeing Wuf without the stripes, Rick started that before they became so common on Minis and RS Focuses (Foci?). Please go careful with it! [:D]

I doubt I was the only one to have a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach when it became clear that Rick had sold WUF, feels like the end of an era in some ways, but I'm delighted to hear it has stayed within our community.

Ben, you're now the custodian of one of the most important 944's in the country, and having been a passenger in it briefly (and have had the flames from its exhaust lick the front of my car many times), I just know you're going to have an awful lot of fun in her!

Great - truely an offer you couldn't refuse!
She looks superb - I'm just by J21 on the M1, off work with a bad back and really bored, if you want a run out! [;)]
Mike

Edit - Love the ducts in the n/s headlight cover!

So how loud is the exhaust with no silencer except the turbo ?.

Label on the back said 105db, if I remember correctly. You can hear it coming a very long way away....[:D]

I remember it rumbling down the entry road to Gaydon a couple of years back. Louder than your average TVR!

Hmmnn, don't think I'll be dumping the backbox just yet then.

I like the twin boost solenoid set up.
Ben, have you checked yet how it works? Is it controlled by the EMS?
The last pages on Rick's site shows the installation of a J&S Safeguard too... Sorry for all the techie questions already! [:D]

I think i saw you today Ben on the M25 near Dartford!??!Enjoy your new motor, please be careful,i think WUF has similar zestiness similar to my red turbo, wheelspin on damp "tracks" at very high speeds can be very unnerving!!!Have fun dude[:D]
PS Earplugs are a good idea for longer journeys??Maybe?[:D]
