This section is a proper dead zone Where is everyone ?

now that's what i call posting. about time .

keep the comments coming and keep them clean.

I'm very active on the pelican site. they have a wealth of information that has really helped me out with excellent right ups on how to do. that's what we are missing. A question...how many people, in UK only, do you think have a running 928?

I think this question is important to this thread as if the numbers are low then this really answers why we have no movement on this site. if no one likes these cars (i do) then no one likes tinkering with them hence no help needed. or do we all prefer to just give our cars to the garage and let them charge us silly money. I bought my car needing work and have been using the pelican site to help do every job one at a time myself. I've saved a bomb and love my car.

According to howmanyleft.co.uk, there are 825 currently taxed and a further 1103 on a SORN so, 1928 cars total (odd how that number ends :) )

Hi,
I am now on my second 928. I had a Guards Red 86.5 for five years and have changed it for a nice low milage, low owner 1991 digi-dash S4. I have been to quite a few PCGB events over the time and I am usually the only 928 present ,but the car always gets a lot of interest. Most people including fellow members just do not really know much about these cars as they are quite rare, but once it has been pointed out that no it is not a VW and yes it is a Porsche V8, they are surprised. Hopefully the forum will get a bit more active and more 928's will start going to events.
Regards maintenance I always find with Greg Nichols page or the 928org mailing list the best, but I also picked up a cd rom copy of the workshop manuals. This has helped me a lot, so I would recommend it any owner.
Hopefully meet up at an event soon.

Hi Brickell

Seriously, is that the reaction a 928 gets amongst members at a PCGB meet? Perhaps therefore, it might be interesting for non-928 owners to read an article in Porsche Post detailing the full history of the 928? I'm astounded by that!

It's mainly due to the fact that a lot of members don't get to see the cars at events so are not aware of them so group them mentally with the other front engined cars, but once it is explained and they see the car they then show interest.
On the other side there are plenty of members who do remember them and always want to have a look or ask questions.
Owning a 928 is great and I personally like owning something different that people don't know about.
I am always happy to explain things and talk about my car, this is the best way to promote 928's.
I personally took ages a work out the different Porsche models, and there are still some I will point to and say 911.
This isn't a bad thing as long as someone is willing to explain the difference.

I'm on a constant mission to promote the transaxle frontrunners anyway !

I'm not one of these that locks away there garage queen just to keep the mileage low. I like to be out and about.

I agree, I have nearly covered this year as many miles as the previous owner did in two. They are such great cars to drive.
Just waiting to get to Dr. A and get the timing belt tension re-checked (1500 miles does come up quick) then back out on the road.

wow only 825. thats low (i think) but cool as mine is taxed and road worthy ish[;)]

I've done so much work on my car but never really get to drive her. mainly because I've been doing the work. I've almost rebuilt the engine all with original Porsche parts. Right now i'm at the last major work to be done on her, i'm having the gearbox rebuilt by Parr Porsche.

she has always been road worthy taxed and insured but I wanted to keep the mileage low. so i keep her under cover.

I will definitely try to come to one of the events when the car comes back.

I'm one of 825[:)]

Your GT has the little mobile phone aerial in the windows like mine.
The big brick phone was removed years ago but has left a mark on the dash where it once was []

Best way of posting pictures is to host them elsewhere - I use Photobucket but there are several others and link from there

These were taken at Chatsworth in June for the Region 8 Concours meeting.

Not mine but owned bu the same guy

My transaxles-

Is there a code for mobile phone as there is no evidence at all of mine having a phone?

Aslo, if you see the fuel rail on the left hand side of the engine, mine has started to leak from there after replacing my Idle Control Valve, maybe we disturbed something, anyone else experienced the same problem?
