A few having been looking for a C2 recently. Here's a new ad on PH that might be worth looking at:

nb. no affiliation and not seen it myself.

I've been sneakily looking at 964's for some time now, maybe this time next year I might be in a position to have one . . .

I have been toying with the idea of swopping for something with lower mileage and this would have been right up my street.

Unfortunately, the recession said NO!

Pity...

In fact, I wish I'd never seen it now [][:(][&o][&:]

if that 3.3S is a well cared for example its a bargain ! It would be a lot more at Malton , Gmund etc. No 1 in my dream
stable if the lottery would oblige.

This one looks decent:

I agree. However, I do wish people wouldn't say things like 'not many like this one left'. Although my own car is no oil painting, anyone who came to Blenheim, Curborough, 964 summer BBQ, etc, would have seen some absolutely stunning 964s that are lovingly looked after by their respective proud owners. Many or whom are members of this club. [:)]

Here's another one that has recently been put on PH in the last few days:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1420995.htm

Not much info but priced cheaply.

And for more money, this looks like a nice low mileage car with a good colour combo:

Black 964C2

And for the same price (but mileage isn't listed for some reason)

a nice red one

That red one could be a very nice standard car for someone.

From the dealer selling it:

We supplied it several years ago to the previous owner, it has FSH & we have just completely restored it mechanically & cosmetically, so that there is nothing to do or spend whatsoever. We have been trading for 40 years, and restore a couple of cars each year and have recently restored an original Lotus 7, Jensen Interceptor, Lotus Europa & are currently working on a Lamborghini Espada. As with many restorations we have spent far more than we can hope to make out of the car in new parts & labour, I have attached some photos so you can see the extent to which we have gone.

It has had-
Full respray in our own workshops
All 4 wheel refurbished, all 4 matching Avon tires are virtually new.
It has oil leaks on timing chain covers & cam seals, these have been done.
We stripped, sandblasted & repainted all of the suspension.
We stripped, sandblasted & repainted engine & rocker covers, then fitted new gaskets on rocker covers.
We stripped, sandblasted & repainted brake calipers
Oil & filter change
New brake pads all round
New CV boots
New Anti roll bar links & bushes New plugs
New sunroof seal
New oil breather pipes
New dip stick tube
New clutch plate
New PAS & alternator belts
New bonnet struts
Interior was good anyhow, although we have obviously fully valeted throughout.

We have all the original owners and service books, along with the wallet etc. There are 16 stamps, 129,000 miles and it was supplied by Cooper Exeter 1/8/1990 so is a local car to us.

I've seen this car and it is absolutely mint. Castle motors have done an excellent job on it. The problem really is the mileage which is 130,000 . The way i see it, it will be virtually impossible for a private seller to get anything like their money back when they come to sell it with lets say 150,000 miles on the clock.

That being said if you are looking for an immaculate car to keep and polish its well worth a look.

Not sure I agree - it's probably going to be worth £15k all day long if it's as nice as it appears. If it had only done 60k, then it would probably be worth closer to £18k?

Only question mark would be over the engine and whether it need top end rebuild etc at those miles.

Yes i was also concerned about the engine, it would need a leak down test. . I know i wouldn't want to be trying to sell a 964 privately with over 150,000 on the clock and no history of engine work. £12,000 if you very lucky, if you ask me.

Im not saying its expensive now, what im saying is that it has the potential to give the buyer a larger than normal depreciation hit on a 964.

With the age of these cars 130,000 miles is really only average mileage IMO. The condition the car is in is the key to whether it is a good one.

I'm interested with people's views on mileage. I bought mine on approx 87k (it's a LHD) and 7 years later it now has 140k on the clock. It has been regularly serviced with no expense spared, new oil pipes all round etc. What are your views on when a rebuild is required? The last rolling road averaged 281bhp and other than a few odd drips of oil, I cannot see a reason for a rebuild. What are your thoughts? What does a leak down test show?
