Track Evening, 16th July -- Bruntingthorpe, Leics

Dear 944'ers

On the 968 pages site we have been talking about good value trackdays and in particular events at Bruntingthorpe (just south of Leicester).

After the fun of the JamSport rolling road event, I thought that track performance would be an even better test! (need to do something as my bhp looked weak compared to a lot of you guys)

A business call Goldtrack at www.goldtrack.co.uk are doing evening sessions this summer from 4 until 8 pm for £69. I think this is good value and it is a chance to meet up and track your car or just turn up to socialise.

I have booked to go on 16th July event (Friday) and recently enjoyed myself on the 18th June one, if any of you fancy a run out it would be good to see you.

all the best

I am working on it, I have a noisy wheel bearing (on he right rear is it a clockwise circuit? [:D]), and my belts will need a retension just coming up to 2,000 miles since fitting. If I can get this done I'll be there.

I can't risk it until BKE is happy again. [:(]

Don't worry, You'll have BKE remapped before then and be circa 350BHP [:D]

I'm sure Melindi will late you book in nice and late, and I'll pull over as soon I see you bearing down on my rear mirror []

I'll pull over as soon I see you bearing down on my rear mirror

That is so not gonna happen Big Paul. And with you running on slicks as well? Yuh!

However.... If all goes well and BKE passes his MOT on the 15th, and there are still places available on the day then .....

Best get those super large caravan mirror extensions fitted Big Paul 'cos you might be seeing lots of EKB. :ROFLMAO:

The circuit used is clockwise.

John, turn up anyway on the night, socialise or track it -- you will get a result either way.

Remember to brim the tank before arrival, they do not have fuel on site in the evenings.

In 4 hours it is easy to do 150 to 200 miles, so fuel is an issue. I only get 12 mpg in my 968 at trackdays and that means I will need fuel in any case. Just got myself 3 nice 20ltr jerry cans from Screwfix, great service and cheap

I am more than happy to offer my services as referee in the battle of the mapped 944's !!

I am looking forward to this.

Thanks for the offer Paul, but it's a long haul from Essex just to stand on the side lines. If we go, we do it.

Yeah I hate to watch too, I just have to join in.

Three jerry cans eh? I only have two, I feel inadequate now [:'(]

I've just spoken to Melindi at Goldtrack and there are 17 places left for the 16th July evening at Brunters for £69 and she would love to see those filled up with 944's, so get on the blower to 01327 361361 if you are thinking about this

(especially as the location is about as central as one could wish for)

I wish it was central in the way that perhaps Hockley is central [:)]

Sounds like it is brewing into quite an event. I'll keep my fingers crossed then.

Anyone else considering coming on 16th July?

Am looking forward to testing my lowered all round set up and the geometry checked suspension (by New Duston garage N'ton). Also want to wear out my trackday tyres (SO2's) as I have a set of TOYO R888's coming soon and am really looking forward to giving them a run out soon after.

all the best

What time's signing on, Tony ? I recon I'll have had enough of file servers by lunch time Friday, so this seems like a good excuse to load up Turbot with the camera gear and head north ...

Rick

Be good to see you if you can give the servers a miss.

Sign on from 3:30 to 4:00 ish -- quick briefing and on track for ducks and drakes till say 4:20pm. Then open pit lane all the way to 8:00 pm.

Anyone got a suggestion for a small drink afterwards? could just try the first pub in Bruntingthorpe village if there is no better local knowledge.

Sounds good to me [:D] or maybe even some grub? Chinese, Tandoori, mushy peas and chips? (Mrs Diver is away so I have a free pass for a fortnight [:D] )

I have no local knowledge up there tho

edited to put the 'p' on front of pass as it read quite badly without it [:D]

NOTE

Just got my joining instrcutions by e-mail.

Track time now shorter than the last evening here: 17:00 to 20:00 with the briefing at 16:30. Sign on from 16:00.

Noise 97.5 dB & no fuel on site.
Passenger fees only £10, so come on down !! (use my name on the security gate if you are just coming to watch).

I would be up for some grub too, its a long drive back. Rick, be good to see you with the camera gear but there might still be some places to drive [;)]
Tony

OOh - chez Smith is available for anyone who has a long drive and/or would like to make a bit of a night of it at my local [;)] and there is a good Tandoori just around the corner, 30 miles from Brunters.
