017 but with a year identifier one letter later. 90 model year, not 89.
Correct Simon. My car has been built on someone's say so, to MY90 spec, minus sunroof and effectively turbo s spec although no M758 on the sticker or "s" designation on the log book, in what now looks like before the factory holiday period. It was delivered to Porsche Reading in June 89! Another anomoly is on the options sticker. The car is stamped "L" for MY90 as is the V5 document and also Porsche's records all identify the car as "L". However the option sticker says "K" which suggests it was printed whilst MY89 stickers were still being printed and someone forgot or never noticed to flip it round to an L! The bridge spoiler is the giveaway for MY90 and then the fact that the VIN number is 17 tells you it's the first MY90 to be built.

So the plot thickens....after a bit of digging today it appears my car was delivered to Porsche Reading in June 89 (that must be a record for a "next year" car) but not registered until 1st Aug 89. No build details as yet, OPC could tell me it came with Porsche script seats and referred me to Porsche GB who look like they may more useful. They requested proof of ownership, scan of V5, and have promised to send me all the info they have on build, spec, who ordered it etc. and maybe a certificate of authenticity.
I await with baited breath!

Porsche Cars GB took three attempts to get my certificate of authentication correct and still got it wrong on the third attempt despite me giving them the information I gleaned from an email to Marc Noack of Porsche Classic.

Ah, thats different. Its simply a "L" vin 90 MY pre-production car. I thought it was K and 017 June 89 build. Its a lovely spec and now makes sense.
