Turbo S Test Drive

ORIGINAL: tscaptain And the financial hit still wouldn't have been possible for me as I presumed they wouldn't give me my money back on a four month old car![;)] The (marginal) gain would not have been worth the pain.[:D]
Yes I would have thought the same but it is an odd thing how it happened. When the S was announced my OPC rang to ask if I wanted one. Somewhat sniffily I said “It’s a bit late for that now”. End of call. A month or two later I got another call. Guess what? Someone in Thailand [:D] wants a car to exactly the spec of mine and if OPC can have it back straight away, May/June as I recall, I can have pretty much what I paid for it towards an S for delivery in July. And that is what I did. OPC not usually noted for philanthropy so whether the Powers That Be were involved on account of more general dissatisfaction about the S following on so soon after Gen 2 I don’t know, but the outcome for me was a pretty painless cost to change.

Given similar circumstances I think I would have followed suit! Just looked it up and the S was announced/released at the Geneva show in March 2010 and the turbo at Frankfurt in Sept 2009. So, to all intents and purposes, 6 months between the two but a 6 month period that upset a whole bunch of people, as I recall from various forums at the time! However, 4 years on and the longest period I have ever had my "best" car, I still love it and have no yearning to change, oddly.

Thank you Dylan. Tell me about! I think I now finally understand why life seems to accelerate the older you get...

they must have applied some of the new S margin against the full price paid trade in for the turbo.

ORIGINAL: dyllan Can't believe it's four yrs Alan !! That's flown by hasn't it ? All the best
Time is relative. The faster you drive, the longer it is for everyone else ;)

Thank you Einstein On that basis what if we take it in turns to drive really fast. Does it even itself out?[:)] Do you think we've got bored with the Turbo S test drive thread....?[8|] Anyway I'm (relatively) younger than most of you because I''ve spent many years at 600 mph[:)]
