V8 944?

ORIGINAL: sawood12

At the end of the day for £20k what else are you going to buy that provides the same mix of performance, reliability, prestige as this package??

yes thats an important factor that frequently gets overlooked isn't it.

I doubt there is currently anything on the market that offers a similar all round, power, performance, handling, comfort and prestige package with drop dead looks at twice that price.[;)]

I've changed my mind now . [:(] on that basis I'd far sooner have a well refurbished 944 for 20K than any of the new sports,hatch/saloons on offer today for the same price

Also where would you begin in trying to find an insurer for such a hybrid car?

When I was looking into this with DHX, I went to A-Plan (Thatcham Branch) who do alot of classic/specialist policies. They found me a policy no problem - with mileage limited to 5000 pa I think from memory the quote was something like £320 pa. In comparison my policy for my current modified turbo (also via A-Plan) is around £230 pa.

Bumping this to keep the discussion live. Now seriously considering this. The Monaro situation has brought the availability of the LS engines to a much more practical level. My intention would to be build a real sleeper based on my S2 with no obvious external mods at all....

I think the V8 burble might give it away [;)]

I have to say if I was to lose my S2 engine I'd definitly look for a suitable V8 as a replacement. I really miss my 928 [&o]
