As the deal is done, and I'll be picking up my S2 in about a week I'll be putting VJ on the market in a couple of weeks. Just a toe-in-the-water here in case anyone is interested before the general public get their chance to bid. [

As most of you have known the car for years I'm not trying to hide anything. The car has been displayed at nearly every event over ther last 5 years, is currently the PCGB website front page photo and was in the recent 911 PW front-engined special. It's no fun listing her faults after she's been so good to me! This is a brief rundown, once I've given her a prep and gone through the paperwork I'll be doing a more thorough advert so there might be the odd minor error here.
1986 944 Lux, c. 135K. Private plate included, 968 mirrors are not and are sold. Tax and MOT until December.
Guards Red, very tidy black logo seats, uncracked dash. Teledials needing re-furb to laquer, P6000s so no wear but they are going to need replacing at some point due to age.
Masses of history, you'll need to read through it all, including belts about 18 months ago with rollers, oil seals etc. Water pump was deemed fine, I'd change it at next belt service.
Engine seems fine, oil pressure correct and uses negligeable oil. Gearbox is as noisy as they all are.
Little niggles; clock broken, armrest hinge broken, blower resistor needs changing as it's not the contacts, sunroof opens fine but doesn't come out. C/lock only from passenger side, mirrors need a new switch. Think that's it!
So, why selling? Well, partly because the new one is a steal. Mostly because it's time VJ had some work done if she's not going to become a tatty car. If I was keeping her I'd budget for the following:
Both sills, rear wing bottoms and possible tidying the front wing bottoms but not looking bad.
The front 2/3rds was resprayed before I bought it. There is the usual stone-chipping, a scratch on the front N/S wing and a dink in the rear N/S bit where the Porsche script goes. The c-pillars are showing the first signs of fading as they weren't resprayed.
I would do a proper job on the bodywork and a full respray myself, bringing the car back to imacculate. Of course, that will cost the thick end of what I'm paying for the new car as I'm getting such a good deal. This swung it for me as I do no work myself (other than the armrest hinge [
]) and it's time to move on to the S2.
If someone can get the work done cheaply or DIY it then it's a decent starting point. If you want a car to run into the ground it'll do that and then the interior, mechanicals etc. will sell for what I want for her.
Anyone interested please give me a preliminary call on O7971 83278O, evenings and weekends please.
