I'll second that sentiment Donal. I'm exceedingly attached to our cat (Lady Millicent the Third), and will be heartbroken when she finally shuffles off this mortal coil. And I understand that people get even more attached to dogs than cats.

So .. sorry to hear it.

Thanks lads for your kind words of support....... She was a smart dog... She never liked the fruit and veg man who visited Sineads home and she used to snarl and growl at him.... I found him OK and Sineads mum used to wonder why Sasha was acting so badly around this fella... We found out later that he was cheating on his wife of 12 years and Sasha had him sussed straight away ..... []

Funny looking at the puppy pics now, we met up with a couple of them at the weekend for their 4th birthday - enjoy Carrera whilst she's a pup, it doesn't last long!

Good for Sasha! They say that dogs are great judges of character, and it sounds like she got that one right!

I am told that the solution is to get another one as soon as you can. It sounds like there are lots of dog owners on here who can help with that as well.

LM3 is a Battersea (rescue) Special. Humble beginnings, so had to have a posh name. (LM's1 and 2 never existed.)

Back on the off topic of Labradors and Vizslas - a random image of 5week old offspring when the two are combined.

Not mine incidendally, but rather cute IMHO. (Male Vizsla, Female Lab).

I think "Vizslador" is a better name than "Labrala" ~ sounds like a type of Raptor [8D]

Excellent, I didn't much like the original topic anyway. This is much better.

With regard to another dog, it is a very difficult call as there will always be comparisons made between old and new friends. However, the fun of having a new dog must help otherwise you can spend a long time thinking "We used to do....."

Yes - getting a new pet too soon must feel very like you are abandoning the memory of the old one, and allowing a new one to usurp it's position in your memory.

But ... as you also say, it will help get over the loss much more quickly.
