Well, it's goodnight from me......

Thank you Paul for all you have done for the Club, Forum and as the 944 Register. Whoever takes over your role has big shoes to step into, but they will get a position that has been looked after and in the busiest part of the Forum with lots of active members.

Wishing you and your partner good luck for the future and hopefully we will see you back in a Porsche in the future.

p.s. I also totally agree that Paul's contribution to the Club is deserving of an Honorary Membership and hope that the Board see it fitting to had out this well deserved accolade for all your service to Porsche Club GB

Have to say, McNulters is proving to be a popular chap isn't he?

Can we all pull his leg even more once he ceases to be a Club Official?

My private email to you said it all Paul, but reading this thread I am genuinely delighted by what has been said about you and your role as RS and Forum Admin.

We have worked together for many years now doing this admin role and at times its not been easy either. You have always been a great support to the admin team and will be sorely missed by us all. Hopefully you will stay as an admin until your membership runs out in a few months time and maybe even longer?

Please don't be a stranger on this site.

I just got to this, a little late - what a surprise, I thought you were a permanent fixture Paul, though, I hope, never taken for granted. Years of service to the Club through some pretty "Interesting times". It's all been said above, so I'll just say this - it's been a pleasure - good luck, health, wealth & happiness to you.

All the best,

Steve

I am very sorry to read this. I want you to stay as much as I want you to stop referring to 8v 944s as 'Lux'. [:D]

There are times when we feel these great cars own us more than we own them and in such circumstances it is sometimes difficult to accept moving on, especially when we have had them for many years and/or gone through nearly every bolt. In this context, congratulations for making the move you feel is right at the moment, and good luck for whatever comes next.

You probably feel like you won't be back, but with no "special" car to take care of for a while I bet the possibility of coming back to the fold or trying another enthusiast car sometimes in the future may get around your head more easily and more quickly than you think [:)]

Hi Paul,

As everyone has said i never expected to see this post-although i passed custody of Bluey to Wolfie of this forum-i am lucky that i still

see her occasionally and also have a pint with Richard.

You were largely responsible for me getting an S2 by far the best and fastest variant when i met you i also had a Lux-(not sorry Simon)-you also

pointed me at the car to buy-namely Bluey. A very happy 8.5 years,5 Le mans Classics and many PCGB and other meetings.

I still find myself following the 944 forum although i have gone to the dark side with a 997 Gen 2 Cab-wont be eligible for Rutland unfortunately.

I join everyone who will miss your input -wether as R.O. or a decent bloke to share a pint with(-rarely just one).

I fully understand your reasons for selling-but hope you may occasionally post on forum if not too painful.

So to close-I would wish you Happiness Health and enough wealth for another Porsche.

I also think that PCGB should give you a lifetime Honorary membership-for the fantastic work you have done for the club and forum.

Cheers

Ron

Sad to see you go Paul. All the best and thanks for all your hard work over the years. As the saying goes its a long road with no corners. I'm sure our paths will cross at car events in the future.

Paul, I am sorry to see you go. You came up to the mark when we needed a new Register Secretary and have been a strong supporter of the Register, not to mention your work as a Forum Moderator. I hope you have got out of the job as much as your members have and I know that you will be missed. Thank you for your expertise I know you will be missed and I hope the councelling will help with the absence of your car. Good luck for the future.

Robin & Jo

Paul, Good luck and best wishes with everything you do in the future.............I have a feeling, like Arne "You'll be back" [:)]

Thanks so much for the comments everyone, it's really touching. Even you, Simon. :ROFLMAO:

Unless something really dramatic happens a 944 is unlikely: the lack of a drive, proper narrow lanes meaning mirrors and paint are always getting a bashing, the salty air - it's just not ideal for any car you have a "value" in. Perhaps a cheap, cheerful 924S, but even then it's hard to find one now!

I can see something like an MX5, Fiesta ST or something. Run it in to the ground and throw it away, and still have some fun. Sara's little MGZR is so much better suited to where we do most of our driving, and the belt service on a 944 will run it for a year. I've never been too attached to any car: they are just lumps of metal and the time is right for different priorities: I'm enjoying life rather than looking for hobbies to get me away from people at home..... [&:]

I've enjoyed owning the two cars immensly, and certainly don't plan to give up on the forums and the community. If anyone's thinking of taking the 944 Register over, then please speak to Albert. There's as much or as little work as you choose, or have time for, and it's hugely rewarding. For those who don't know, I put myself forward for a Board role last year, and had the timing worked out differently I would heve kept the car. The Club is in such a good place at the moment it's a shame not to be moving forward with it!

Paul .... will miss having that late pint at the bar ... think it's your round ..... sounds like big life change all round, do hope it all goes well. No doubt see you at an event sometime.

You will be missed.

All the best mate.

So sorry to hear that Paul as you have done a great job, going to be difficult to find someone to carry on the good work but we'll do our best. It's been a pleasure dealing with you in my role as Register Director, please keep in touch .

Albert Walsh

Register Director

You have done so so much over the years for the 944 community and the club Paul. You deserve a good rest away from cars, enjoy the sea air, big sky and quality of life the south west offers Paul.

Its been a right while sine I posted on here. I cant believe that you have sold the car on Paul. You know I only ever attended 2 events Silverstone 2008 and Cirencester 2011. Both involved a big drive from Galway here.

Both events are forever etched in my memory. The following words spring to mind, Sunburn, Friends, Big Nights, Vodka, Craic, Kenny Rodgers, Hangover,. You know from the day and hour I became a member of this 944 forum its been absolutely brilliant and meeting you for the first time made me feel more than welcome.

Paul, you took me under your wing and looked after me so well even though I am a Paddy and a total stranger. Remember that "leisurely stroll myself, Mike and you took from Silverstone...? Then "that" big night ...! You are the embodiment of what a club is all about - People... You are a people's person and I could tell you get a real buzz out of meeting folk and having the craic..

Well time moves on and circumstances work against you - My circumstances have changed with 2 kids now and no time to get away. You are now on hold Paul for now but I can see you back again not necessarily in a 944 but an RS Focus perhaps ?

I cant believe that my signature is 9 years old with your Lux, Johns Beaky and my lady. Time waits for no man but you always have your memories - Until we meet again at one of life's little roundabouts....!!

Oh Paul!

I only just read your post...sad to see you've sold your 944 but I fully understand with the West Country hazards of salty air, tractors and tourists...

Good luck with your next venture, probably a 4x4 theme?

Enjoy the slower pace of life too!

Cheers

Max
