Can not to put it all back together

I had a mad dash this morning as my other half told me at 10:00 that she had my 951 booked in for MOT tomorrow............so had an hour to check it over before work!!

The washer pump had stopped working, stripped it down and found that the pump gears were binding on the back plate - just a little corrosion. Cleaned it up and didn't wrench the back plate up too tight..........cue functioning washer jets :D

Both reversing lamps had failed......I assumed it would be the gearbox switch, but I was wrong. Turns out one lamp had blown, and the other was corroded. Nice easy fix.

One of the drivers lamps has failed, but I didn't have a lamp to hand.....I'm not convinced that driving lamps have to work for an MOT anyway??

So now it's fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Also...........PSH, there must be something in the air. My odo packed up this week as well. Not had chance to strip it down yet, but suspect it is the usual broken drive gear. Another job for the weekend!!

Today I took my 944 for MOT, and she passed [:D] Just advisories for front brake pipes and a front wheel bearing.

The emissions test was an odd one, 0% CO and 0ppm HC..........I wonder if the gas probe fell out of the exhaust :ROFLMAO:

Maybe she's just running perfectly!

Well done Hallsy....I think my new engine must be performing well...emission results for my MOT last week was 0.879% for the Co and 89 ppm for the hydro carbons...for my year 1986 I'm allowed 4.5% Co and 1200 ppm HC so not bad... As for what I've done today?...well I'm on a road trip around Wales next week so just taking care of a few bits and pieces...most important was some play that had developed in my clutch pedal. I knew it wasn't the clutch as it's new with just over 7k miles on it...anyway, it turns out that the play was due to the small plastic bush that slips over the pedal pin had broken up, this had led to an elongated hole in the clevis block that fits to the pin and connects to the master cylinder. Remedy was to machine open the clevis to 12mm, turn up a bronze bush to fit over pin and in clevis resulting in zero play in pedal...great result for zero cost...:)

Took my S2 for it's MOT today, passed for the price of a brake light bulb which I hadn't realised was out.

Also had the window motor and mechanism removed and the motor refurbished as it wasn't working, now have 2 working windows again.

Just back from Wales, 5 nights away in a most beautiful part of our country...great roads too.....car performed well, perfectly in fact...have a small water ingress which looks like blocked A/C drain, I will address this later when I remove the dash for it's new cover. Engine never missed a beat, including a non-stop 8 hour return journey...... covered 1k miles over the 5 days, engine now has just over 8k on the clock and is very strong...I'm a very happy bunny..:)

Where did you go Pete

Am in the States so have ordered some of the Ftech9 solid state DME relays with fuel pump prime option for me and some friends - being delivered to my hotel tomorrow :)

Just got back from over 3 weeks in Florida, car started first time as usual so we drove to the Tartan Tarmac breakfast meet.

We were really late due to the jet lag but the 100 mile round trip was a decent run for me and the car.

Went for a spin to check the tyre pressures. Started first time after 6 weeks sitting. Fitted the rear view mirror which fell off as I drove away from the MOT station back in April!
