mum still unsure which to use as I was once told by Jon Mitchell that I really need to run iridium plugs so that it illuminates the risk of the tip melting off ( which has since scared the crap out of me ) is this true???
Maybe another Jon Mitchell, not me unless there was something specific that made me suggest it.
I recommend Bosch WR7DC+ for the standard 944 turbo.
I recommend Bosch WR6DC+ if running above 18 psi of boost, but to be aware that they are more likely to foul up if you start the engine, move it, shut it down (Such as moving it in and out of the garage in winter months)
If you run the WR7DC+ Above about 18 psi for longer periods on a 944 turbo you tend find the electrode can become a hotspot causing preignition (usually resulting in hesitation or lack of power), short peaks above 18 psi is not a concern, more like long pulls in 5th upto over twice the speed limit over and over again. Short spells of overboost tend to not be a big issue, but constant boost above 18psi it is good to switch to the WR6DC+
We have had cars running 26 psi on WR6DC+ Without an issue... Except one customer who kept driving his car out of the garage from cold (30 foot journey) then shutting it down and washing it, then having problems getting it to start again. The 3.2 engines we developed all tended to run WR6DC+ at anything upto 22 psi of boost without issue, except one which kept bending number 4 electrode, but that one was due to extremely high EGT's and extremely restrictive exhaust system which did not end well (But kept doing it for a long time until a piston cracked!) however not the plugs fault, but the fault of a pea shooter exhaust on a huge boosted engine.

Usually up to my eyeballs in work, still here now at 11pm.
Been keeping up with club members technical emails, but not had a chance to be in here for ages, not even had a holiday in almost 4 years!!
I promise to check in more often, employed a workshop manager in the hope of having more time, but just get more done! []

Having seen some friends retire and turn from healthy vibrant chaps, into frail chaps, and then shuffle off to the afterlife in short order, I decided to take my chances and work till I drop.
Am able to spend a lot of time in the workshop doing dirty bits now though with the new manager chap freeing up the tedious business things, which may give my heart another decade due to reduced stress!
With the 968, did one, someone made me an offer I could not refuse, sold it, got another one to do now, 95% of the parts there, again, this one will be for me personally, but if some loonie offers me close to a six digit number I doubt I will be able to turn it down... Pesky money spoiling my fun.

Most of them retired early, in their 40's or 50's and rapidly looked 10 years older within a few months, then have gone on to be hit with health problems and death... Interestingly they all played golf, so maybe that is the key!
I am never going to die rich, but after I die some insurance companies will make those I leave behind rather well off!

ShhHHhh! I was trying to keep it nondescript Paul!
It is the first time I have known an engine to be able to overheat a plug to the point the electrode bends though! I knew that a restrictive exhaust would push up EGT's and therefore cylinder temperatures as well as head and piston temperatures, but I had never seen such cause the electrode to overheat so much it kept bending, that was an insanely crazy thing that I still tell people about to this day
None of the other 3.2 Turbos, the 3.0 Turbos, or the 2.8 Turbos, let alone the 2.5 Turbos have managed to do that, so it is an exclusive club!
I would like to think that you would like to know a certain baltic blue 944 turbo with that engine is now being used in hill climb and sprint racing, is road legal and gets love and the-beans in equal high doses when I last checked, fabspeed 3.0 inch exhaust all the way from the turbo back and never a bent electrode again!

If it hadn't bent a piston too, he might not be slumming it in an S2 [].

Grrr... Suddup Paul, stop winding up the other Paul, thats not fair!...blade7 said:Indi9xx said:I would like to think that you would like to know a certain baltic blue 944 turbo with that engine is now being used in hill climb and sprint racing, is road legal and gets love and the-beans in equal high doses when I last checked, fabspeed 3.0 inch exhaust all the way from the turbo back and never a bent electrode again!

If "other Paul" wanted a turbo, I am sure he would have one right now.
Do you want a 944 Turbo Paul-S? or are you absolutely happy with the S2?
