well it should be a white 1995 1.8 TDi Mondeo (I call it the flycatcher ,ask me why [:D])
But at the mo I am working within 15 miles of home so I can drive my baby to work which is such a pleasure (89 S2 944) Big silly grin on my boat race in the mornings, bet the office are talking [;)]

P.S. Given that, while a different daily driver will cost less to run than a 944, it will bring with it significant overheads like another road tax - sorry, daylight theft - disk to buy, another car to insure etc etc etc. I would guess you would need to do a fairly significant milage on a daily basis to make a second car worthwhile. Having said that, having two cars does make things much easier when you do DIY maintenance - it removes the pressure to have the car done by the end of the day, and means you have a car to drive around in to get parts and tools while working on the other car.

Vauxhall Frontera, ok ok dont frown. Its 92 2.3 diesel and does the job its used for. Then when the sun shines i can enjoy my 911. Only back on the road after 2 years of work on it so where is the sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ideal motor for a specialist time critical delivery business. This is what my Dad and brother are currently doing. They have a transit connect which seldomly has more then about 2 boxes in it.
 
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 LPG '02 to not pay congestion charge and cheap insurance / running costs as my '88 944 will not cope with 35K miles per year.
 
SAAB 9-5 with BSR ppc (re-useable OBD port tuner) 215 Bhp 255 Lb/ft upgrade, SAAB 3.0 litre diesel high flow inlet / snorkel, BSR SS exhaust and complete SAAB aero sports suspension. This was supposed to be my daily hack to cruise along the A303 but one can't own a turbo car without giving it a tweak can one?[:)]

Occasionally the gf's diesel golf, soon she will have a new MX-5 for me to play with,,,,,(probably not)[:(]
 
If I'm going fishing then a Volvo 940 Estate. Pottering around then my 924S.
When the weather is good then a Honda VFR400 ( as you can imagine this hasn't been out a lot recently, in fact as I type it is coming down like stair-rods outside).

Oli, you're right that you need to do a lot of miles to make a second car viable. I used to use my S2 cab for 1,000 miles a week but for a period I used a Mk2 GTI 8v instead. When all was considered I think the Golf saved me something like £90 a month. The cab was getting damp through lack of use and I felt that I could easily be into a bill that would wipe out months of savings to put right lack of use induced problems, so I sold the GTI on.

I only have the TDI now because the RS6 is in a whole new league of running costs; 17.5mpg on the motorway (not even 20mpg like the computer says), 19" tyres which are a lot more pricy than 17" ones, expensive very specilaist (as in main dealer) servicing and I'm on the depreciation bandwagon with it.
 
I live 15 mins walk away so mostly walk to work because sometimes traffic so bad that it can sometimes take longer by car, but if I do go by car it would be the 944 S2 as that is all I've got.
