Which Alloys Suit the 944...

Out of interest - if i did want to fit Fuchs on my 944 (really early one) which ones would i need? Im hoping that they wouldnt have to be the uber rare and expensive ones that the later car boys need?

If I had my time again..... I'd probably go for a 220 Turbo, in silver or grey with black leather, the optional LSD and 16" Fuchs, on the deck on KW's with a Promax stage 2 and my current interior mods. Sorted.

ORIGINAL: 944Turbo I didn't like these at first but they grew on me - car at back 996 C4 (s?) wheels - they are my track wheels now - not ideal as they are heavy. Fronts dont fit without a 5mm spacer Tony

They're not 996 C4S wheels or the standard C4 wheels, but look fine.  C4S wheels were the same design as the 996 turbo wheels and of a 5 spoke twisted design, but were heavier as the spokes were solid and not hollow.  The 996 turbo are my faves. Simple and elegant.
Quick google image search for 996 C4 brings up a couple of cabs with them on, Tony

They must have been changed from standard or spec'd differently from new:- http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.show_car?sid_=6048755124836E902D12D31E1672D72&pnr_=1&lnr_=3&caller_=

How can i tell if mine have been done already? and if not what is the cost involved? Thanks

ORIGINAL: gavinm I've got 17' Cups on my 220 turbo with nasty cheap tyres on. the car tracks like mad and feels a bit shit. Don't know if this is down to the size of the wheels or the nasty cheap tyres...... like the cups though and i think they suit the car.....
Have you changed the castor bushes for the later 968 style ? If not try it, it should help with the tramlining once on 17"/18" rims Mike
not yet but it's on the list along with the 'everything else' overhaul over the winter and probably for most of next year........[8|]

not being tooo biased! but I think my wheels suite very well:

Not sure what wheels they are mind you - defo Porsche - Cups?

yep - commonly called Porsche Cup 1's. Often fitted to 968's I believe. 16's look very different to the 17's, and I think they look great on your car.

Hi James, you didn,t say my car looked daft with 18"s on!!!!!! anyway she is on the clubs homepage[:D][:D][:D] the black'n'shiney one with BIG wheels[:)] BTW well done last week cheers

Yes, original fitment on the 968, I now have 3 sets, 2 sets needed to produce 4 x 8" rims for the race car. IMHO this is pretty much the perfect wheel for an S2 race car, if one checks the weight they are lighter then the D90 and of course should give better cooling as well. The spokes are much thinner then 17" cup 1's.

ORIGINAL: edh I've had these on for a while & I'm not quite sure whether I prefer them.- currently back on Clubsports

Now they look the biz [;)] Are they 18"s? Dave

I have a set of those sat in the garage for the past 3 years, very light, again out of all the 17" wheel options ISTR these are the lightest Porsche wheel. Only down side is they are a little narrow, my set is 7" on the front and 8.5" on the back which I believe may have been for the 996? Anyways AFAIK the boxster supposedly had the same wheel only slightly narrower on the back so maybe my set is a boxster set. I think I should sell them really.

Nah! They look rubbish. But if they are 17" I would be more than happy to suffer the ignominy of having them on my car. [;)]

Watch this space John....... [;)] They are 17" Speedline split rims. Currently pondering selling the car (have 3 sets of wheels right now) and moving on to a more track oriented machine (no idea what yet). I don't know whether it's better to sell a more standard car (maybe even remove the Vitesse kit etc..) or just sell as is. I have some work to do to make the car shiny before I sell it. I will also track down and fix the intermittent vibration I still have if it's the last thing I do.....
