Which Alloys Suit the 944...

I have a set of 7.5"x16" and 9"x16" 993 Winter Cups, which Im about to tyre-up. Ideally Id like a set of forged Fuchs Club Sports, but theyre too dear now.

Fondmetal cross spokes always bring back memories: I had a set of 8" & 9" x16" on my old hillclimber and they looked brilliant. I gave them away when I bought a mint set of 8" & 9" Fuchs with crested centres and new Pirellis for £300! To the people asking about original Fuchs wheels. Any 15" or 16" wheels will fit a 23mm offset car with ATE calipers. Most 911s had 6" fronts which arent ideal, with 7" rears. 7" & 8" would be better, but the price shoots up with the width... Fuchs will only fit 1986 model year Turbos. Off the top of my head, there are some fronts with sufficient backspace to clear the calipers (as well as the 951 prefixed parts), but theyre not common. If I find my list I'll post the part numbers.

This car lives in the North East region and is gorgeous with these Ruf wheels on it, I believe that are 18s.

Saw te Red car at Raby Catle with the RUF wheels very nice ! but i prefer Cup 1's in fact i love them ! i also like the CS Forged wheel (I have a set !) for my turbo s which is presently on Cup 1.s My 220 Turbo has 17" Cup 1 reps but i am going to fit the turbo teledials that i have to see what it looks like with a view to refurb and then permanent fitment . BBS Speedlines are also uber sexy ! Bit of a wheel whore really ! [:D]

|I have a set of forged wheels and they dont even fit over my brakes [;)] One is polished and I intend to do the rest, then might put them on ebay or keep them as garage ornaments [:D]

Which brakes hae you got fitted Tony ? i was always under the impression that the MO30 CS Wheels were the lightest Porsche wheel..............they are very light. How would i know if the Fuch wheels which are an all time classic will fit my 86 turbo and what size will go on ? Nearly bought a very early turbo with Fuch fitted................................luverly !

Big Blacks which need 17" wheels to clear. I think with an 86 fuchs will go on, check the offset on the teledials - should be on the back or front of the wheels, think fuchs are in the 20s

This site has most of the Porsche wheel weights and offsets. Click on Felgengewichte at the bottom left, then change the language to English www.944racing.de/felgengewichte.html Fuchs are nearly 2kg a wheel lighter [:eek:] than the CS for the same sizes. 17" Carrera twists like mine are just about the same weight as the CS [:)]

Wheel whore - lol....... If I wasn't skint after getting married I would be tempted to try and coax you to sell me the Cup 1 reps.....[;)]

Copies are best avoided. Quality and tolerances arent fantastic, theyre heavy and the offset is seldom correct.

i liked my 15" teles but not the way the rears sat under the car so far, so finally took the plunge and got some 968 16" 'cup ones'

the 8j rears really do the trick, ride seems unaffected. love em :D old wheels;

Yum yum! Those are the exact wheels I want and for the exact same reason too. Don't suppose you know of any more going do you?

they were standard on 968's - but most people seem to fit 17's so I guess there should be plenty knocking around.

Certainly look like it, nice and shiny car too! Ideally, I want a slightly tatty set then I wouldn't feel so bad about getting them refurbed in black with a polished lip. If I get a nice set then they'll have to stay silver for a while. I'd better get trawling eBay then unless anyone on here has a spare set!
