White Silverrose 944 turbo

Steve had a lovely black S2. Is that the one you got?

It is black but wasn’t his car, just one he knew about that wasn’t being used much, the seller had a Bodyshop in Kirkintilloch.

Continuing the trip down memory lane, I wonder what happened to the Paul/Nick Rogers red turbo S. Promax told me about it, and I came close to buying it. I think someone said later, that it had been an insurance Cat D.

That car has Gaz Gold front struts supplied by me FOC after mine were replaced under warranty. Or at least it did 8 years ago. Mick Brown owned it then. He also had a type 2 camper with an S2 engine about the same time.......McLarens.

I speak to Alasdair now and again he was looking to get into a 944 again but was shocked at the rise in values, Steve Cox's rose ended up with him, I believe the engine went to a Scandinavian country, the shell ended up being restored and ended up in Carlisle with William Armstrong it was caged and prepared for track then sold as a shell, nearly bought a 993 of said famous dealer with a view to chopping my TurboS against it, the figures never added up, and it wanted tyres etc, when I specifically asked him of their condition, great he said, foooked I said when I saw them so there"s a grand to spend before anything else.
Titanic forum was great when my dial up router worked [:D]

Yeah that sounds about right Jim. Oli was the chap, used to post one here as OS951, Kerava, Finland. He was restoring a turbo with/for his son IIRC and was a fountain of knowledge.

But completely untrustworthy.

Greetings all, just came across this thread whilst doing a google search fro something. The black S2 had been Steves car if I remember. I had done a bit of work on Steve Coxs car, it need everything done though and got chopped in the end. the shell went to someone who was building a track car. It was very high miles as well and everything was very tired on it too. Seems like a long time ago now.

I think Steve struggled with finances when he was hit with the downturn in 2008, nice guy and had a foot in both the Titanic group and TIPEC. he organised a group meet where 17 Silver rose cars were in the one place at one time.... probably around 2010

Did he let you down Simon? He's been gone from here a long time.

Sorry Stu. Ive only just seen this. Not me personally, but I have heard too many stories about him keeping expensive kit that he was supposed to refurb. Sadly some of this belonged to owners whose names/usernames we recognise.

No worries Simon, nice to see you back!

I'd be interested to see if the chassis number was anywhere near mine. there was a rumour at one stage that there wer 2 white ones. Never seen the cloth before mine is black 'leather'. Porsche records apparently are a bit vague due to to being built in Neckarsulm?

Does anyone know this white M758 944 turbo s? Two owners. The rear turbo badge seems bit wonky. Front bumper not quite sitting flush with bonnet etc on O/S. Also O/S front pop up light seems to have sagged a little. Otherwise looks nice enough. Any helpful info greatly appreciated.

A European Turbo S with a factory sunroof, and that nasty interior?

It's certainly a strange combination. I didn't think any turbo s had a sunroof, and was it not burgundy plaid interior they all had? This one is grey plaid by the looks of it.

Stuart

Yes and do you perhaps know anything about the car itself? You do not seem to know very much about the first batch of 944 turbo s which were delivered at the same time as the Silver Rose cars. We had a black non sunroof turbo s with linen leather sports seats and ac from new as my father didn't like the Silver Rose colour. Sept 88 car. I learned to drive in it aged 17 - beautiful sports car - fancy another and spec etc less important than condition :)

I think the Yanks got a sunroof with their Turbo S. Not unusual to read misinformation, and people looking to take offence when money comes into the equation. The non standard colours came along after the success of the initial silver rose painted Turbo S.
