The will is drawn up and my personal affairs are put in order.

In a last ditch (sic) effort to keep up with Gary on future 997 tours - the bullet has been bitten and the order placed for 997 GT2 in 2008!

530 odd gee gees and a top speed of 204 should do the trick! [;)]

Now where did I put those incontinent pants! [&:]

I hope you have a large stock of 'brave pills' as often advertized on Topgear!

Many congrats though!!

Remind me, why did you sell your Turbo? It would have been MUCH cheaper to just have the Ruf 550bhp package installed, and you would be still a lot faster than a GT2.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the response.
997TT is the best Porsche I've owned (thus far) by a long way.
However, a small issue with the steel brakes, decided me on PCB's, but these would be £11k retro-fitted - so it was cheaper to order a new car!

In July, I attended a GT2 presentation in Reading with 997 Register and was persuaded something edgier might fit the bill.

Getting one has been a problem since only 43 units total production are destined for UK - so that became a challenge! However I do have a bit of a track record with Porsche so this has helped.
Modified cars are great if you don't mind the hassles - but not at my time of life thank you!

Rob,
Thanks for your comments. Early days yet but stand by for more news! [:)][:)]

Regards,
Clive

Well done!

First person I have seen on any of the forums that has ordered one!!!! That means all the others have gone to non-enthusiasts who probably don't even know what they are buying (apart from it being the most expensive one of course!)

Can't wait to hear about it next year!

Having chased you guys and failed to keep pace through North Wales, I can't understand why you would want something faster than that yellow flash! You'll be buying new Sparco's soon! I assume it will be an equally disgusting colour! The wife will have to strengthen up her stomach then! lol

Was there with you (I was the one on Wayne's far right hand side, heckling him all the time [:D]).

Fair enough on the Ceramic brakes retrofit front. Not cheap I agree.

I am dying to hear what the GT2 new Titanium exhaust sounds like. I'm still hoping Porsche may one day do a retrofit option for the Turbo.

Did you see the December Topgear mag yet? Has a short piece comparing the GT3/Turbo/GT2. Interesting (the GT3 wins the votes again!).

Isn't North Wales where there are thousands of speed cameras, and even the Policemen on vacation get caught?!

I saw that. I think you will find the GT3 won because, although the TT and GT2 are incredibly accomplished, the GT3's performance, and involvement are more accessible in normal road use. And it sounds better.

Put your racing incontinence pants back in the box, you won't need them.

997 GT2 will be amazing. Only downside will be the fact that it will be so easy to drive at ludicrous speed and that in itself can cause probs on the public road with the proliferation of numpty drivers.

Crowd of us, around 20, went for a blast across Kent on Sunday...left at 6:30 am so that we had the roads virtually clear, great fun.[;)] Three 997 GT3 RS's, Gallardo Superleggera, 996 Turbo, TVR Sagaris, M3 CSL, M3 Cab, Saleen Mustang, Z4 M Coupe etc. All organised by the guys on psitonheads.

Bloody hell..... Nice one Clive [:D]

I only wonder what your Mrs is cursing [;)] (I haven't been blamed for it have I [])

What won it over the Scud ??? the obvious or not so..
I really look forward to seeing the motor [8D] and you made the correct choice [:D]

Alex, it depends on where you go [;)]

I am with the others - give us all the gorey details specs, presentations and all

I am looking forward to drool all over it at a future Porsche event

I am really jealous now Launcelot![X(][X(][8|]. I am sadly lacking two key elements to GT2 ownership! One is Money.
Can just about manage to pay for my new 997TT, and the second is driver skill. Any amount of money won't give me the skill to drive one of them things!

Clive
Oh boy, you've done it now - we'll definitely want to have that buzz round the West Country with the register next year!
Who did you persuade to take your order in the end?

I think Peter's 997S looks fabulous in Guards Red, but I wasn't altogether convinced with the GT2 in that colour I saw on the stand in Frankfurt.

I would say that Speed Yellow is the colour for a GT2 - but that's out because no-one in our village would then know I had a new car!! []

Flavour of the day seems to be white with dark wheels- but I don't have to spec. it until next Feb. so that might change! [8|]

Incidentially, can anyone tell me what the Sports Chrono option on GT2 provides other than a stopwatch? [&:]

As regards the Scud - it would be nice to have both, wouldn't it!!!

Now where's that Lotto ticket???? [;)]

Regards,
Clive
