Wilton House Supercar Day 14th August

A Reminder to all those who have yet to submit their entries. This weekend is the last opportunity to send in your form. It promises to be a great day out for petrol-heads and a chance to meet up with fellow 997 Register members. All of the £10 entry fee goes to charity. Forms are available from me or 997@porscheclubgb.com. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone. Regards, Clive

Will we be receiving tickets ?, I took it we just used the blue section you cut off the bottom of the application form. Steve

I think that's right. I will speak to the organiser and report back accordingly. Regards, Clive.

I spoke to the organiser today. No tickets are being issued to individuals. Entry is by display of the blue information sheet provided on the bottom of your entry form and, of course, driving a Porsche. [8|] Our pitch will be adjoining the Austin Healey Owners' Club - so we'd better be on our best behaviour! [:)] There will be an opportunity for entrants to drive in a cavalcade around the arena. Please let me know if you do NOT wish to take part in this - it'll be at walking pace - but you will be able to give it some revs occasionally to impress the crowd if you wish. We are also allowed to have our own commentary as the cars pass by - so I'll be needing a volunteer commentator. Please form an orderly queue! [;)] There are also some VIP passes being set aside for us so we'll have access to the good and the great AND the beer/cocktail tent [:D] You are requested to be on site by 8.30am. The approach will be from South Street, Wilton through the Sawmill Gate. Please don't use any other entrance. The postcode is SP2 0JU. Any questions - just ask. Otherwise see you there. Good weather HAS been ordered Regards, Clive.

Clive I know we have left it to the last minute again but Gary says he can fit us in ,We would like to find a Hotel near by for saturday night , any suggestions, regards Martin and Hilary

Martin, Some of us are staying at the Barford Inn, Barford St. Mary, Salisbury. Wiltshire SP3 4AB. Tel. 01722 742242. contactus@thebarfordinn.co.uk The Inn itself is small and was fully booked by us sometime ago. They did say, however, there was other accommodation nearby. I would suggest you ring them to see what they can suggest. Otherwise it'll be the usual suspects ie google, booking.com, lastminute.com etc. If you do manage to stay nearby, you are very welcome to join us for drink and dinner at the pub on Saturday night. After all this IS a 997 Register event in the true tradition! [:D] Looking forward to meeting up. Regards, Clive.

Clive Whats the planned ETA at the pub, or is it any time suits. I saw Dinner at 7;30. Questions is I guess is anyone doing an earlier run out or are we just meeting direct at the pub[8|] Ta

Tom, Most members are travelling down on the morning of the event, so whilst I did initially think about putting on small run on Saturday afternoon, I don't think there will be enough of us to really make it worthwhile. Judy and I are looking to be there around 4ish - just in time for a nice gentle Pimms on the lawn.[:)] Regards, Clive.

And I will be getting to the pub early evening in time for the meal after being at the Children's hospice fete (with other region members) and doing rides and stuff in the afternoon. [:)]

Pimms you say .....[8D] Wish I could make it a day earlier but already committed.. physically not mentally by the way [8|] [;)] garyw

Clive looking forward to Sunday ,we have now found a hotel. checked your previous post re blue information sheet not sure what this is as only the entry form downloaded which has been sent. Would it possible for a phone contact number on the day if we have a problem getting in . Just to complicate matters my new registration number has come through which is different from the entry form ,will this be a problem regards martin & hilary

Martin, Let me have your personal e-mail address and I will reply with an attachment that includes the blue windsccreen access form. Just fill this out with your updated details and you should be fine, but I'll include my phone number as well just in case. Look forward to meeting up on Sunday. Regards, Clive.

Trying to work out how I can have a clean car for this show [8|] I will be travelling in on the motorway for over an hour even if I clean it before hand - which in itself is tricky as we are away this Sat (getting the car dirtier in the process) and I have done my knee in so bending down to clean it myself is out. Hmmm, tricky one. Perhaps I could get it valeted tomorrow morning somewhere, hope for no wet roads in the next 48 hours, and then just wipe off the bugs come Sunday?! It's not concourse so only has to look fairly presentable. What are others doing?

Got a local mobile valeter to come to my in-laws house Sat evening and do a quick wash and wax. He's taken pity on me as he's going to the show too. Hopefully it won't get too dirty overnight/on the motorway on the way to the event.
