Winners on the day reported as; The Agera. Engineering Excellence was won by the gold Veyron

ORIGINAL: Alex L All other super/hyper-cars there were far too wide for B road fun [:(]
Interesting concept Alex which of course set me looking to compare! Narrrowest 997 turbo at 72.9" and widest (that I could find) Pagani Huayra/Zonda (or whatever) at 80.2". Of the others the 599 is 77.2", SLS 76.3" and others around 75". Can I have my anorak badge now please..........[:D]. Just wish I could have been there to see them all.......[:(]

Yes, useful stats Alan! A real sell-able feature in my opinion. Gallardo is 74" and 458 75". The 997 has got to be king of the back-roads! F cars are obviously only good for A-roads, which are busy and have lots of speed traps ie. no wonder they don't do many miles. Clive did really well fitting his Scud down some the old routes we use to do.

ORIGINAL: Alex L Funny - I hardly noticed this car with the others around it!
That wiper would get on your nerves though.......[;)][:D] Edit - Having just looked up the price I can see what it won the prize for..........[&:] Did they borrow the windscreen from one of these?

Clive I'm going to ask what we can have as a register for these type of events..... However I have been told previously that these events are done supposedly done by regions, not registers....[&:] which may possibly be the case in some circumstances but certainly not ours[:)] Great pictures, Blue seems a popular colour......[:D] garyw

I was a little disappointed that we weren't in the exclusive 150 supercars that made their grand enterance and got to do the hill climb in the morning :( There were a couple of 997 Turbos and a GT3RS 4.0 that made the cut though.

This is the first time we've done the event and I had no idea there was a hillclimb on as well. It certainly wasn't mentioned to me during discussions with the organiser. The first we knew was when we followed a load of supercars on their way there, thinking they were leading us into the Wilton House estate - no problem keeping up with them incidentailly,[8|] but 6 miles past the house we realised there might have been a mistake! [&:] Clearly if there's interest in doing this again next year, we can make some enquiries about being included. Regards, Clive.

Great day! Good to meet a few of you. Many thanks to Clive and whoever else was involved with organising our involvement in this - it's much appreciated! Sorry we missed the arena drive - I blame the kids(!) as I think this was when my brother and I got bogged down with playground visit and ice cream purchases [8|] ..... for them, not us [;)] Defo. up for more of this next year! Only slight disappointment/frustration was the inclusion of some clearly 'non-supercars' in the parade. The last few motors into the courtyard were what it's all about, but there was a fair bit of sub-standard stuff passing beforehand. The drivers and passengers of some of those should have looked quite embarrassed at their inclusion IMHO, but didn't seem to to. Alex hits the proverbial nail, I think: many were not as 'super' as our cars and I'm speaking from a C2S cab', nevermind the Turbos, Turbo Ss and GT3 in our midst. ....actually, that wasn't the only one: visually, the One-77 was a disppointment for me. Looking forward to next year! Meanwhile, see y'all early next month [:D]

Definitely up for next year! My pics on Photobucket seems to have been overly popular so have exceeded the bnndwidth limit. So I have loaded them all up on Flickr: Photo set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54365070@N05/sets/72157627445636096/ Slideshow: http://www.flickr.com//photos/54365070@N05/sets/72157627445636096/show/

You put them on Pistonheads- so Yes bandwidth would be taken... [;)] But they are very good shots, tempting me even more for a new camera... garyw

Well that's depressing, not one photo of our cars on the Wilton gallery site: http://www.wiltonhousesupercars.co.uk/page9.html In fact the only Porsche pictures I have seen have been of the blue Turbo S and the white GT3RS 4.0 in the 150 parade as they entered the grounds. I think we have to face facts, 997s are just too common and as such only special to the person behind the wheel. No wonder they depreciate like a stone. Thanks Porsche!

With Porsche now part of VW and with the stated intention of selling 200,000 cars a year exclusivity is a thing of the past. Some models will continue to be special the rest will just be run of the mill and an increasingly common sight on our roads

Very true..... but I still very much enjoy mine [:D]

A friend of mine was in the 150 in his 996 GT2 mk2. Did the hill climb too.

Here's the response to my contact with the organiser:- Hi Clive, I am really glad you and your members enjoyed the event and thanks once again for organising such a wonderful Porsche display. Your club really added to the atmosphere and feel of the day. I have a review meeting on the 21st September with the Earl, so will pass on all of your comments. I will keep you posted with developments and improvements for next years show! As regards to the road run and hill climb this tends to be by private invitation - if you can get me a list of unusual and one off/rare Porsches it may be possible for some of your members to attend next year. Sorry we did not get a chance to meet up on the day. We will have to rectify this at some point! Let me know of any other major Porsche events you have coming up, I may be able to find the time to come along and meet you in person. Thanks again for all your support Kind regards Russell Topham Classified Advertisement Manager Salisbury Newspapers
