Won't move

Well I dont care what anyone does with 'their car' as long as they dont drive it like a complete idiot on the public road and risk killing my and other children. Idiots whio do that I have no time for. I personally believe there is room for Concours cars , daily drivers , originals , custom hot rod 944's and everything in between. Even chavved up ones give me a laugh and who doesn't need a laugh these days.

I like to make Porsche friends not enemies and the former is always harder than the latter so whatever you do with your Porsche (if you have one)
Merry christmas from mas [:D]

There does seem to a bit of this
gfight1.gif
going on. Come on guys it's
christmas.gif
time.

Each to their own some of us have garage queens, my 911 is nice and warmly tucked up in the garage until the weather turns, and others that we use all the time, my 944 is a daily runner and so it has to cope with whatever gets thrown at it. And there are a whole lot of people in between. Surely all uses are equally valid in a fan club like this.

Sorry, couldn't bite my tongue any longer, else it would have come off...[8|]

Scotty, there is a fundamental difference between your posts on this public forum and those of Oli imho, namely Oli is never anything but open, constructive, friendly, helpful and ever keen to share his hard-won S2 knowledge (despite labouring under the slight misapprehension that S2s are somehow superior to their Turbo cousins, but hey no-one's perfect [;)] ) whilst you, on the other hand [8|] are none of those things and still delight in sarcastic, snide and belittling comments to all and sundry.

Hardly the finest ambassador for the PCGB are you?![8|]

Rant over...

Merry Christmas to everyone - this 944 forum is still (by a country mile) the most friendly, informative and useful forum on the web. Sterling job by the Pauls and I wish you all the best for 2010![:D]

+1 for Nick

Happy Christmas to all who Porsche - 944s or any other type - even Beetles [:)]and look froward to a great new year. Starting with the NEC show then to the 31st at Rutland.

Took me 13 hours to drive from Essex (Colchester) to Plymouth yesterday. Got home at 4.30 am. It was horrific. Never seen so many abandoned cars in all my life.

Took my Saab 900. Was going to do the trip in the 944. On the way up on the saturday it was dry roads and sunshine and I wished I had. On the way back it was horrific! The 900 has new tyres and ABS and it saved my arse about 4 times. The A31 was just pure ice and I was amazed the car moved at all, but like someone else said - gentle on the clutch and the brakes and plenty of concentration is the secret. I reckon the road temp gauge in the Saab was way more useful than the stopwatch in the 944!

Once we got past Salisbury, the snow was replaced by freezing fog. Deep joy.

I love driving my 944, but I was bloody glad it was in the garage yesterday and I was in a heavy old Saab!

D

(Just want to whinge about the horrible journey really...)

Well like I said, I like mine nice and clean and tidy, not looking like the average run of the mill rusty shed with intergalactic mileage.
Hmm, trying not too get too drawn into this but

I drive mine every day, It doesn't have 'intergalatic' mileage (115K) its kept clean, and certainly doesn't have any rust, I was fortunate enough to have JMG look over it recently and apart from a couple of minor issues, it got a clean bill of health. I am not a PCGB member (although was many years ago).
I love 944's and believe they should be driven. Otherwise whats the point ? [&o]

The past week has been good for me to explore the handling and get used to catching the back-end the moment it steps out, the roads in our village are still covered in snow/ice so still had to pick my way gently home last night and out again this morning.

I chose a 944 purely based on the fact that it is probably the most practical 'classic' sports car, I needed a cheap station car and thought that a Cherished 944 would be a better long-term bet, and a whole heap more fun than an abused Celica or similar.

If I didn't already have another high-octane hobby and could afford a garage Queen, then I am sad to say, in this company, that I would not have chosen a 944, it would most likely be something a little more delicate and probably British or Italian......

I love driving a 944 in the snow, they're great fun and like a track day enable you to experience how wonderfully balanced the chassis is whilst improving your own driving abilities. The 944S did let me down yesterday after work though, the fan switch must have stuck on and left me with a flat battery in the middle of a empty industrial estate... I think my brain had frozen over as it took me ages to realise the best option was to call a taxi for a jump start [:D]

I am not responding to a certain persons posts on this thread as it'll only make things worse, but IMO post #50 deserves a temporary cooling off ban.

a ban would probably just add fuel to the fire, i've followed a couple of threads on here which are a little scratchy, some are quite amusing some a bit embarrasing so i just skip over those; it adds to the excitement of 944 ownership!

merry xmas all

(I still can't believe Paul Smith owns a hairdryer)[;)]
