Zymol

The car I originally posted about is a 987 I had delivered in Nov 2006.
I use the car every day and most of the time it is not garaged.
I wax the car every 2 weeks or so with Meguairs Tech wax and was wondering if a carnauba wax was worth the time and investement.

You are doing a great job of looking after your Boxster with regular cleaning every 2 weeks!
Zymol/Swissvax products give an outstanding finish - if, as Philip mentioned - you follow the steps he outlined.
Some of the more expensive (Carnauba) waxes require more effort to apply and remove as they contain less "oils" - which act as a "carrier" for the Carnauba. They can require more elbow grease to apply and remove. -The tip about using your hands to apply Carnauba is good as this gets the wax nice and warm, making application easier.
Good luck!

Looks like a landfill site hill but anyway back to the car, love the colour.

Actually Silbury hill is the largest neolithic earthwork in Europe.

The colour of my Boxster is nearly as rare- I've only ever seen 2 other boxsters in Carmon red

And also the hill refered to in Peter Gabriel's "Salisbury Hill" if I'm not mistaken?

...

Guess the stoneagers over there weren't too creative, as it looks exactly like the rubbish landfill sites coming up everywhere; I guess the rubbish landfill hill on A40 (coming into London) will, in several thousand years time, be quite an archaeological find as it will show all the rubbished we bury right now. off topic of course

Carmon red is stunning, there's a Cayenne in that colour down my road.......IMO it's the new Arena red only better.

If you are applying Meguiars every two weeks, then Zymol Carbon every 4 to 5 weeks will be more than plenty to give a superior finish. You'll have to clay bar beforehand, and the zymol one is much better than the meguiars version. You'll be looking at around £20 for a clay bar, and £75 for a Zymol Carbon kit - not cheap, but add a bottle of ymol Autowash from Halfords for £7 and you'll have enough cleaner and wax for years - or £2/week !!

www.masscashsales.com

all depends on what the shipping cost is - i've bought over £1ks worth of Zymol fom Roger in the last few years, never anything but excellent service. Even paying import duty i saved 38% over rip off UK prices

current prices are $24 for HD Cleanse and $46 for Carbon wax - or a total of £36 before shipping and tax

Sorry If I seem a bit thick.....

If I was to use say carbon wax....If I wanted to wax say every month would I just then add another layer of carbon ? If so would I have to use HD cleanse every time ?

Or would I use Field glaze and just redo the carbon once a year or so ?

BTW I can't believe somebody has had a boxster for 18 months and not waxed it yet !

You can use the carbon over the carbon as often as you want.

You only need" to HD cleanse before the 1st coat.

HD Cleanse will remove the wax, so you actually do NOT want to use it all the time.

Thank you- I think it all makes more sense to me now.

Thank you all for your replies- being a new Porsche owner I'll probably have loads of stupid questions as time goes on......

Thorughout my car ownership I have always used Autoglym products not realising how abrasive they were, then I discovered Zymol and then became a worshipper of Zymol offerings but got more disheartened as I found them hard to work with.

I did a bit of internet searching and decided to give Meguiars products a go......

I followed a 7 step process and the results I find are truly stunning............

step 1:- Wash car with Meguiars wash

step 2:- Claybar with quick clay

step 3:- Crystal cleanse paintwork

step 4:- Crystal polish paintwork

step 5:- 1 coat of Tech wax

step 6:- 1 coat of Gold class wax

step 7:- 2nd coat gold class wax

Putting the gold class on top of the tech wax has provided a deeper finish.......granted the process took in the region of 6 hours I feel that it was worth it.

see what you think .......
