Cars in the Park Show - 08 / 05 / 2016 Newby Hall

Hi all, I was on Pistonheads yesterday and come across this show, Cars in the Park, held at Newby Hall near Ripon on the 8th of May this year. I've checked out the website http://www.carsinthepark.org.uk/ and it is the same guys that held the Lotherton Hall show we attended last year. It looks a cracking show and venue, Ripon isn't too shabby a place either. Wendy and I are going and are wondering if anybody else wants to join us? It would be great to have a good showing from the Region 3 guys and girls. Have a look at the site and if anybody is up for it add your names to the post and we'll make arrangements nearer the time.

[Update]
You will need to register on the site. Once registered, login and update your car group to Porsche Club GB. This means all of our cars are parked together. We all need to buy our tickets in advance.

[Meeting Times]

I've had a look on the site and display cars can start arriving from 9.00am ready for the gates to open for the public at 11.00 am. So for those members wishing to go down in convoy, I suggest we get there no later than 10.15 am. This will give us plenty of time to park up etc, grab a coffee and have a natter before the gates open to the public.

What I suggest is, the northern members of the club meet at the Washington Service Station on the A1M from 8.00am, looking to leave at around 8.30am. We'll then head down to Scotch Corner services to pick up the southern members of the club. It takes roughly 40 mins (at normal speeds) to get to Scotch Corner so we should arrive no later than 9.15am. Then at around 9.30am we'll head down to Newby Hall which is around 45mins away.

Don't forget your ticket!

Should be a great and day and hope to see loads of Porsches heading down in convoy.

I've just signed up as a CITP member so I can buy an advanced ticket, I have also stated that I am a PCGB member, I'm assuming that this will put all the Porsche people together.

Has anyone else done the same thing?

Regards Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for the update. I have registered on the site. The site isn't the clearest and doesn't give up it's information easily. I have therefore updated the original post with further details.

I must admit, I stumbled through it Mark!!

Hi Mark - I'm new to the PCGB and I'm allocated to the R7 region (live near York). I've been to a number of these CITP events in recent years with my previous cars and they're well organised. Chris Crossley the CITP organiser did run a late model Boxster himself so definitely has a soft spot for the marque and does a great job setting these shows up. Hopefully some of the other R7 members will be up for attending as well to give the club a good turn-out!

As the others have mentioned, it's best to register on the CITP site and buy a ticket in advance so that the organisers can allocate parking by marque/model and try to keep club members together. You can just turn up on the day but you can't guarantee getting in the "show" area and may have to park in the public parking areas.

Regards,
Darren

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the update, hopefully everyone that is coming so far will read above and register on the site. I'll be bringing it up at our next R3 meeting.

Cheers
Mark

Looks good to us - will get Dave to check work at the new place (hes already armed with dates to avoid for pcgb events this year!)

The important thing about paying in advance is that then Chris gets the money, which he uses to put the shows on, rather than the venue.

Although, registration to the show doesn't include entrance to Newby Hall, it is well worth paying to go inside the extensive grounds.

Hi Mark & Wendy, Karen and I are up for this and have now registered and paid for tickets - our number is: 8017. Informed CITP we're PCGB members , so hopefully we'll all be marshalled together, cosy fashion. All we need on the day is lots of Sunshine and it should fantastic ! - If anybody wants to rendezvous at Scotch Corner services we could head on to Newby Hall together - just a thought, we can talk about this at the next Club night.

Dave & Karen
