- How do I get a ticket just for that event?
- What is the cost just for that?
- Can we park in the centre or will it be miles away?
- What events are on at Silverstone for the day? I heard mention of possible track time? is that the case?
Saturday 3rd Sept 2011
A twin-centre day. With Silverstone Porsche Driver Centre being the main centre of activity on the day, but also The Royal Agricultural College Cirencester coming in to play. Those who have finished playing at Silverstone can enjoy the rest of the day at the RAC or those that are not interested in Silverstone can just enjoy the RAC side of things. - activities ongoing at the RAC will b announced but potentially look to be great.
In the evening planned is the usual "Gala Dinner" open to all or hopefully a BBQ in the grounds.

It may well be worth calling the ticket line and being cheeky on Monday or even the club office.
You could buy a days ticket but I think you needed a weekend ticket (£18) for the events like the parade lap etc- I may be wrong.
The Saturday was parade laps more than track time, but the parade laps have been known to be rather 'interesting' at times...
Very good questions you have asked, sadly I don't know the answers to them... I'm hoping the parking is close this time..

"Those who book their weekend tickets early will be able to enjoy the spectacular facilities of the Porsche Experience Centre"
"As an added attraction we have secured the use of Silverstone's Stowe Circuit. This will provide the opportunity for owners to drive their own cars on track as well as enjoy some high-speed lappery in Porsches with professional drivers" (Weekend tickets only though)
"The outer circuit (at PEC) will provide parking for Porsches on a first come first served basis"
The phone number for the booking line is 02088758684 but as Gary says the advanced tickets sales line is now apparently closed.
I understand from the article that the "taster session" at Castle Combe and the PEC and parade laps are/were only available to advanced, weekend ticket purchasers only (See Alex's earlier post on this page). The only "on the day" tickets (@£15) are for the Sunday at the RAC?
Possibly still worth a call to the above number to see if they can accommodate........
Wow, you really need to pick what you are going to. I will definitely be visiting Center Gravity at the RAC venue after lunch, but as I only have a day pass and am not booked into any Silverstone 'activities', I might just skip going there altogether. Unless there is something interesting to 'see' at Silverstone on the Sat?

Am I missing something or are we saying 65 miles is a long way in a Porsche.....[]ORIGINAL: Alex L
I didn't realize how far apart the two venues are!! It's 65 miles, so an 1.5 hour drive.
Hotel for Saturday night booked []
Up to 240 Porsches doing parade laps around Stowe.........? And coffee with Clive, of course[]ORIGINAL: Alex L

If anyone wants to drive up on the Sat with me from Reading then this may sway me one way or the other. I have a cracking 2 hour route from Reading to Cirencester I could deploy if anyone is interested?
Either way, I need to be at the RAC for 1330 as I am booked in with Chris F.
What are others doing? Are those going to Silverstone going to be there all day?

I thought it was a great idea at first... Myself and Rob had watched the Americans do it so well and looked great funORIGINAL: pwebb
Anyone doing the Autotest at the RAC on Sunday afternoon?
Then I saw we're on grass [&:]
garyw
We have a grass football field for the Autotest so the surface is quite smooth, I think the width of the cars will be the deciding factor not the grip or acceleration from two or four wheel drive. It will be open for business all three days Friday Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately you will need a Windscreen Hanger to allow you to drive to the Autotest area, you will need to walk (gasp) to the area to sign on and collect the Hanger to bring your car to the Autotest. Note the Autotest will finish at 16.00 hrs Sunday so we can have the prizes presented in the main arena at about 16.15-16.30. Have you thought about a team or two from the 997 Register?ORIGINAL: pwebb

Don't know what i am doing yet, not got a ticket yet as Madam was working and on call...........
Could be tempted by run out.........
Tom - just rearranged my time slot with Chris F to 9am at RAC (as I can have a whole hour then for him to look at my suspension rattle) so unless you want to get to mine for 7am, I think I will forego the fun run this Sat. Probably shouldn't push the car anyway until Chris has given the all-safe.

I've just called the experience centre and from what I can gather unless u are booked into any 'experience drives' which are only in the centres cars then there really doesn't seem much to do. I was under the impression that the RS boys had some track time in their cars but seemingly that's not happening. As u say they are a big drive apart so personally I've decided that I'm off to Cirencester and shelving silverstone. I can do silverstone anytimeORIGINAL: Alex L

Going to spectate at Castle Combe this afternoon. Anyone from this register going too?
Got there for the last 30 mins. Spotted Geoff leaving but other than that, no familiar faces/cars.
Yup, and you could only do the Silverstone rides if you bought a 2 day weekend pass and pre-book. Hence, other than saying hello to fellow 997 register members, there is not much to do up there. RAC on the other hand should be relatively nice and quiet tomorrow.ORIGINAL: davidcross.
