50th Year national event

Well I thought it was a cracking weekend put on by the club, very much made (or broken) by the weather but the Sunday did indeed come up trumps...
Great to see register members around the site, sat chatting and sharing stories and drinks together...

We had over 60 cars parked in the register display making a great sight to behold- and parked in a nice straight line even if I do say so myself [;)]
Many Thanks to those who came up to chat and catch up.

Agreed Gary - brilliant 3 days and well done to everyone. With a few minor reservations everyone I spoke to, and asked their opinion, said it exceeded their expectations (And our region now has a new gazebo!![:D])

It was a wet start to Sunday and I wondered if that would put people off, however those that took the chance ended up with a great day in the park [:)]
The club seem to of shot itself in the foot by running the RAC on the Saturday as those attended reported it to the www as being rather poorly attended, which by looks of the photos it was, however not so on the main day [:D]

I think the event exceeded my expectations but was made by the weather giving a relaxed day around the park.
It was also great to see register members assisting the club around various parts of the site, not sure how I went from 997 parking to general parking but it certainly added to meeting club members throughout the morning.

Yes, there were some issues that could have been improved on, but to consider it was put on by a car club of volunteers I think it was excellent!!
I will certainly be remembering the weekend for the right reasons. Although a little gutted I missed some of the seminars I wanted to attend.

We braved the early morning rain and stuck it out, and glad we did as it turned out to be a nice day.

It would be interesting to know if we actually paid for the inflatable slide etc, because it would appear to be little used and looks like a dear item.

What did the ÂŁ10 actually go towards? Presumably the hire of the field.

Was this run as a fund raising venture, or a celebration of 50 years as a club, or both?

Sorry I didn't catch up with you and the 911uk crowd...
I was there at 9am so witnessed the rain and did worry, mind you it was so warm even when it was raining!!
Like you I'm glad I saw it through into what turned out to be a cracking day.

As ever with a club as large as this, prior to the event there were the usual moans of things to do for the club family and children at the event.
I don't have kids, so I guess I have little sympathy for the kids, but I do realise that without such things certain owners may have difficulty in getting 'permission' to attend on the day [;)]
I guess we paid for it with the entry ticket price, to I'm not one to begrudge people as I enjoyed my own day at the cost requested- ÂŁ18 for the 3 days.

I'm not sure which ÂŁ10 you mention, the ÂŁ10 for the Coys brochure was there own...[&:]

The entry ticket cost was from my understanding to cover the cost of the event in order to celebrate the 50years of the Porsche club, I'm sure that if the event made an excess- which most are.. then it will be put to forwarding the club into the next 50years.
If it made a loss, then the club would be paying from monies it had put to one side in order to cater for such a large undertaking.

Going to spectate at Castle Combe this afternoon. Anyone from this register going too?

Got there for the last 30 mins. Spotted Geoff leaving but other than that, no familiar faces/cars.

I was at CC for a few hours - late morning to early afternoon. Saw tscaptain about to go out and shred some tyres [;)]

Also at RAC yesterday from about 10.30 -16.30ish - saw Gary's car but sorry we didn't get to meet (again!).

Had a great time. Top marks to all involved!! [:)]

Nick
If you arrived at about 10.30, then it was us parking you up..[:)] which did make me a bit scarse at times....
Glad you enjoyed the day

Ah, sorry! Could you please put a photo' of yourself in the window of your car, so we know who to look out for?! [;)]

I figured you weren't the one marshalling closer to the entrance, who said "what's this?"! [;)]

Resisting the temptation to say "a Porsche" or "a 911", I politely said "a 997" without a hint of surprise at the question [;)]

Excuse me........with my ultra smooth driving style there will be no shredding of tyres around these parts [:D] (I wish......[:(])
Anyway the rears were nearly shot to begin with.......

I got asked the very same question when I arived first thing in the morning :ROFLMAO:

Laughing aside, you would be amazed at how many owners do not know what model they are driving!!! [&:]

You would be surprised how many people get really upset at that question! If it was a fat bloke with a hangover who asked you then sorry, that was me.

I can do the front-engined stuff easily, but I must admit to mixing up a 996 cab with a Boxster this weekend (not good), and not having a clue with the early 911s and their infinite variants. When they're coming at you in droves for four hours solid it's sometimes easy to mistake a car, so asking every driver becomes a bit of a routine cop-out for the marshalls! [&:]

Well all I can say from my own experience was I thought is was a good day. I loved castle combe and silverstone was ok. But for me to show my little boy all the pokers at the rac on Sunday was the best. He loved it as he won a Porsche football and I enjoyed it as I caught up with so many people and drawled over so many fantastic beasts.

Well done to everyone who helped out you did a fantastic job.

Stu
(just need to make sure I'm around for the next one).
