I paid my GTS deposit as soon as released and have a December build date (not in a tearing hurry). Any particular thoughts re spec? Rear wheel steering, 4 wheel drive, prefer leather to race tex, glass sunroof (sorry!), PDK (obviously). Any thoughts/contradictions welcome…………

Interested to read the ‘why not just buy a Turbo’ comments. Not for me though.

Leather is the resale kiss of death but as long as you're going into the purchase with your eyes wide open, and you prefer it, then why not ?

I swayed over Gentian Blue as well but I understand it's quite a 'high maintenance' colour so worth bearing in mind how that will slot into your lifestyle and your usage pattern.
As a Gentian Blue owner I agree on it being high maintenance as it looks very dirty, very quickly. Oddly even more so than many black cars I've owned.
Clean it looks stunning, forget to put it in the garage for a few days or drive for more than a few hours (even worse in the rain) and its now dull navy.
My wife's white Macan hasn't been washed in months over which its done 3K and still looks cleaner than my 911 thats ceramic coated and not moved since its last clean 4 days ago!
Wouldn't recommend it for a daily colour, unless you intend to wash it before you put it away in the garage every night.

My OCD forced me to (expensively) go Crayon to match the GTS option interior... Never owned a colour like it before, so will be interesting.

Have to say I had second thoughts after
the GTS spec came out. The power uplift against the S is unlikely to matter
on a road car and once you spec it the cost is rapidly closing on the GT3 Touring. Obviously that’s a model not
available to most of us but does represent a significantmy different driving experience
Perhaps we could see a992T with 4 litre
power from the GT4. and 6 speed box
A kind of junior GT3 for enthusiasts who aren’t blessed with a GT3 slot invitation

You could make pretty much most of this statement about every other 911 GTS that has ever been produced. What were you expecting exactly ?
Not so much what I was expecting
rather a question of what I would like to see in a 992 that can be purchased rath than read about

Interesting re leather, thanks. Just think too much race tex a bit ‘boy racer’ and leather provides a more Grand Tourer experience. Also keen on seat ventilation which race tex negates. Will spec race to roof lining and b pillars though ??

Dont forget the roof lining in Racetex option doesn't include the sun visors. Predictably you have to pay extra to have them in Racetex too. Not even sure if standards are even leather as they feel a little like vinyl...

Talking of which, I ‘love’ that Porsche charge extra for electrically folding door mirrors on a 100k+ car ??

The GTS coupe has PASM as standard .Not sure why there is a no cost PASM option on the GTS coupe . Does the no cost optional PASM lower it by 10mm and the standard PASM does not ? Sounds daft but was wondering if someone could elaborate .

You’re almost right but it’s -10mm as standard and you can raise it back to standard ride height as a no cost option.

Thanks Major, I'm glad you pointed this out. I want the lowered -10mm ride height. I shall deselect the no cost PASM in that case.

No problem at all Sir.

Can anyone shed any light on the difference the -10mm makes to ride comfort on the 992 ? I know the standard car setup isn’t exactly like wafting along on a cloud of air but I‘m not getting any younger and I get terrible gyp for my Farmer Giles at times. I was half thinking about deleting my -10 and going back to standard height.

Thoughts ?

I dont think this is right. Stock a 991 GTS is -20mm and a GT product like GT4 -30mm. So -10mm option is a GTS raised by 10mm from stock GTS. This is the case on a 991 so would imagine a 992 is the same. Dont tick the box and you get -20, tick the box you get -10 so less drop. German logic

I think the press embargo is something like the 21st Sep. The smoking Tire had a commment on Instagram about it too

Major 69, with respect your comment about leather being the kiss of death is really a load of sphericals, I have a friend with a 991.2 Carrera 4GTS with the leather interior coming up to 4 years old and has been offered £86K from the OPC. There are so few around for sale that it really is a sellers market.

Go back and ask them what they'd have offered on the car if it had the GTS interior pack [;)]

To be fair I noticed a big difference in valuations between GTS interior equipped cars and my standard interior car, which I appreciate is not as nice as the leather, but at resale to both trade and private it felt very much like there was a £5k delta between the cars with the GTS interior and mine, and I was told as much. Seems like it’s an option that pays back at resale time. Sunroof and GTS pack are what buyers seem to value the most on these cars. Cheeky that we are forced to pay £2500 for a carbon trim option that’s only £1200 on an S on the 992. I personally could do without the carbon as the standard trim is nice enough.

I’ve just got a shark blue cayman GTS 4.0 and was told in no uncertain terms that without GRS interior package I’d regret it at resale time
looks good mind??

We’ll since the retail was going to be £93K and it’s a 2017 C4GTS PDK car with 9K miles having the GTS interior would have made no difference, its the low mileage that drives up the price. With retail at £93K no dealer would offer any more than £8K difference. To say that having the leather interior is the "Kiss of Death” is a bit extremen, take a look at what is for sale look at the specs, mileage and age, I would say the bigger mistake would be to change the centre lock wheels to 5 bolt type.

By the way on a separate subject to answer your question about ride height comfort, my 991.2 C4 GTS has PDCC with the -20mm PASM (compared to the base Carrera) and rear axle steering (it does have standard GTS interior with 18 way seats), the ride is "lively” and hard on the typical poor surface roads we have here in UK so I do get jolted around a bit inside the cabin on a rough road, I’ve also got Front Axle Lift which is essential with the lower set up but be aware that it‘s not perfect as it is only effective up to 22mph, so if you are a on very bumpy road with lots of undulations it will be slow progress or you will need a new front splitter and don’t forget the brake cooling ducts which can make contact with the road if the undulation is severe enough and Lift is not up.

FYI, the GT3 is also -20mm lower compared to the base Carrera.

Is it just me or the Sales people within the Retail Group are woeful. I experienced terrible service at West London and then contacted Reading. The chap was quick to take my deposit but never responds to emails and has to be chased( I'm not one that is constantly changing specification). He tells me that my revised specification has been sent to the factory but fails to provide a revised order. I've asked him five times!Just wondering if this is the Retail Group experience that others have had?
