944 Cup Car

I've had a few weeks away from the Forum (and feel much better for it) [:D]

My 944 Cup Car has been in Porsche Kendal getting some work done to make it road legal in the UK. New belts were fitted along with new front flexi brake lines and RHD headlights and there was an outstanding Fuel Line recall from 1990 that was done at the same time FOC [:-]

Today I started on some of the jobs that I have planned on doing to get it the way I want it.

Now registered in the UK so fitted it's plates

The old badge was looking tired so a new badge and gasket also fitted [:D]

I've got a new airbox (Thanks Kongsodoken for giving us the heads up that these were available) which will be fitted tomorrow along with a new radiator expansion tank and the plastic cover that covers the wiper motor and heater unit.

Then I plan to give the engine bay a clean and I have another set of Magnesium wheels refurbished and painted in Pearl White.

Will post more pictures as I continue [;)]

Also had a visit from a friend in a new GTS

Anal question....[&:]

I've not seen a bonnet badge fade like that. Were they a different part?

I thought that as well. It looks like a different badge so I am keeping it until I get to see another Cup car and see if they were different.

It looks like the enamel has fallen out, but it also looks like it has White in the badge??

I'll check the part number tomorrow to see if it's different

Thinking about it, I seem to have a vague memory that the last Cup in the UK had a sticker rather than the enamel badge? Makes sense: every gram counts.

Id guess that the faded badge was a copy. They used to be plentiful and cheap in America. They looked right pretty much, but they didn't last as well.

You should have requested dvla to supply you E944 CUP reg plate. It hasn't been issued on a car yet.

I enquired about 944 CUP and CUP 944 but both have previously been issued [:(]

I wonder how much that bonnet weighs? Mine has a central brace similar to that found in a steel one, so it is likely to weigh more.

Not sure but it has a single bonnet stay which is more than capable of supporting it, and feels very light to lift
