944 DME Project

How about using that "service trigger" cat models have ?

If you have a spare sensor then I guess so, does it pick up TDC or somthing? Its just a TDC signal then it should be ok as long as you don't use 0+ advance as you could do the following.

1. First spark after TDC you fire 3+4
2. Next time you fire 1+2
3. Repeat

I suppose it still need some device with logic to be able to work. Have tried to find any redily available solution, no luck so far. I suppose i will wait your results. I wonder why Porsche didn't moved to distributorless systems back then. Bosch had them avaialbale, look for example same perioid E30 bodied 318IS which is 16V 1.8L (nice car) with coil pack. Wonder how difficult it would be to adopt some other Motronic to our cars, or logic from them.

I meant use a low voltage signal such as from an opto trigger to give an input into the uProcessor.
Then the uProcessor can fire each individual plug top coil.
If the input is more advanced than the maximum advance you need to run+ the time it takes to compute the advance needed your good to go.
If I can help in anyway just shout. Ive got 10 odd years in embedded control software development. Ive nearly build my own ECU several times, just never quite got round to it.

Good progress today, stuck my modified DME in the car and the microprocessor is up and running and I'm reading the various sensors on my Laptop!!

Cool! I thought you had only got to data monitoring! [&:]

Other useful features for the list could be

Water Injection/Intercooler spray triggered by boost & revs
2 Boost levels selected by simple open/close switch (if you are keeping the KLR/CV)
Launch control via soft rev limit

It just goes on! [:D]

Keep up the good work - particularly interested in driving Wasted Spark/COP and losing the dizzy cap!

Best Regards

Water injection would be no problem.
I plan to implement boost control using a solenoid and DPW. This can do boost against any parameter (RPM/TPS/Speed) or some external source like bluetooth mobile phone :D.
I have though about using rev limit for a form of launch control, interesting idea. Ill also look at WOT shifting etc.

Now I have a simple GUI to implement some test functions.

good to see you are making progress.
if I send you an ABS Control unit, can I have Torque vectoring and Yaw Control integrated on mine please!
I sense a 1200kg 951 GTR

Now there's an interesting idea George. There's 4 wheel sensors going into that unit isn't there. I bet I can get at those signals. I could certainly implement traction control using an ignition cut limiter if I knew when the rears were spinning.

You know, I was thinking that earlier today - as an add on to launch control.

This could get really out of hand! [:D]

Tom,
great progress [:)]
I am looking forward the results. I hope you will soon have a working solution without dizzy [;)]
