944 Dyno Day Saturday 20th May 2006

I've just spoken to Allan at www.weltmeister.co.uk (again, again) and this years Dyno Day is now FINALLY booked for Saturday 20th May starting at 8:20am and finishing when we get through everyone.

There is a strict maximum of 30 cars and if we can get the full amount the price will be £30 cash. Anything under 30 cars will be £35. This year it will be RWD cars only . For this you will get 2-3 runs on the dyno until maximum power is recorded and you will then receive printed graphs showing bhp, torque, air fuel ratio and Turbo boost (for Turbos) throughout the rev range. These are very useful for pinpointing any potential problems and of course provide the all important ammunition for bar room bragging [:D]

Rick Cannel has kindly agreed once again to scan everyones charts on the day and update the UK league table on his website to provide a really useful comparison of how our 15-20 year old cars are faring.Whilst Rick is data collecting, John Sims will be wandering around with Ricks lenses capturing the days moments for posterity

Reserves

Yep that's us full, and I've started a reserve list.

There are always a few last minute dropouts so I'm confident everyone on the reserve will get a place.

Thankyou to all the early volunteers. Anyone who hasn't volunteered for an early slot wll probably not get a run until the afternoon. Of course everyone is welcome to turn up at 9am and stay all day sniffng fumes like the rest of us.

Steve Rothery has recommended a good Indian Restaurant a few miles away in Buckingham, so if anyone wants to stay on for a bit of nosh afterwards then we could do that as well (I know I will want to [:D] ) but we can organise numbers a bit nearer the time

Just a thought, but has anybody considered inviting one of the mags along? They seem to be interested in RR sessions, and I wouldn't mind mine being in print - even though it certaily doesn't make it's full quota anymore!!

Assuming I get there, I'm thinking it would be a good one for the Porsche Post.

Unless you meant a widely read magazine

I actually have been quite impressed by the last couple of PP's big improvements,
Tony

The first praise for the new magazine format! I'll pass it on to the board at the worker's conference and then duck for cover :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

There is a strict maximum of 30 cars and if we can get the full amount the price will be £30 cash. Anything under 30 cars will be £35. This year it will be RWD cars only as it takes a lot of time to reconfigure the rollers for 4WD or FWD. For this you will get 2-3 runs on the dyno until maximum power is recorded and you will then receive printed graphs showing bhp, torque, air fuel ratio and Turbo boost (for Turbos) throughout the rev range. If you confirmed for the previous dates then I've left you already confirmed in the list below, but if you cannot make the 20th May then please let me know and accept my apologies for messing you around [8|] I'll update this first post as we go along so it's easy to keep track.

If you thought you saw two earlier posts with other dates - you were dreaming ok?

ah, found the address right at the bottom..

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]Unit 41 & 42 Silverstone Business Park, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, Northants. NN12 8TN. UK[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Head towards the main entrance, and turn right at the roundabout just in front of the main gate. You'll probably not fail to miss the queue of 944s waiting to get hammered! [;)]

About a week beforehand I'll post the instructions to get there and what sort of queueing system we'll employ (probably same as last year as that worked).

Weltmeister is actually about 50 yards away from the circuit itself, just by Bridge corner. If there is any testing going on we can probably stand on Helens roof and see over the fence [:D]

Is there a second dyno date planned? I seem to remember seeing a dyno day thread which I got my name down for pretty quickly but my name isn't on the list above??

Just a quick update.

We've had a couple of early droputs so I've moved a few names up into the list. I've also had a couple of warnings from people who think they might not be able to make it, so I am sure by the time the day comes we will be able to get everyone who wants a run onto the Rollers of Truth

Three weeks to go - and my cylinder head isn't on yet - eek []
