Also, as I mentioned on another thread recently, it might be nice to see if we can put together a list of some of the old Titanic 944 members who used to go to the Dyno days, just to see if they want to have a bit of a reunion, some of them still have 944's but are not on the PCGB forum here, such as Mark Dalton who has Ben's 3.2 944 Turbo.. (Ben - who might also like to know it is happening and come along, who I think checks in here once in a while) But there is also people like Rick Cannell who no longer has a 944, but I am sure would love to come along and chat to everyone about their cars.
hey don't forget me Jon...I'm still around although very rarely these days...

I am exhausting options for a local rolling road now, seems like the remaining ones in the area are not meeting expectations of operator ability or would let us control it, and for our tuning needs it needs to be one or the other.
We have a good engine dyno locally we use for R&D, but that is no good for a shoot out or final tuning of the DME, so looks like we need to save our pennies and buy a 4x4 Dyno, which is gonna hurt!

I can now confirm that a "Dyno Day" has been booked at West Tuning, Thruxton, as a joint event between Dorset Region 26 and the 944 register. Date is Saturday 25th January 2014. Price will be £36, discounted for the first ten PCGB members to £26. Numbers are limited! Even if you don't want to put your car on the rollers, come along for the social - as Jon Mitchell hinted, it would be good if we could get some of those involved in the dyno-days of old along, and compare notes. With the R26 element there will probably be some other models to make it interesting - 993, 928, 911, 968 immediately spring to mind, but it is only being promoted amongst the 944 register and R26, unless we really get desperate! Because of choreographing both R26 and the 944 register it is probably easiest to initially email me directly at r26@porscheclubgb.com to book, but of you are coming along to spectate, or think of someone we should contact to get along, post here. I know for some January won't be ideal, but some of us I know have reason to want to put their cars on the rollers sooner rather than later, and we wanted to find a dyno-dynamics rolling road and operator with a good reputation, and they tend to get busy with racing later in the year. Besides which, this time of year tends to be a bit blank in terms of things to do Porsche related.
We are hoping to have the obligatory burger van along, but there are in any case catering facilities at Thruxton, and plenty of parking!
Anything I have forgotten, please ask, and I'll look forward to seeing many of you there.

What is the planned meeting time?

Real shame as I was really looking forward to this.
Maybe if it was going to be a very early start, I'd be able to make it. Do we know any more about timing yet?

I think any of the transaxle cars would fit in easily. It's only a disruption if the dyno has to be reset for different car layouts.
I'm afraid I don't have a time Jabriel, but I'd email Tref to see if they would slot you in first?
The main thing is to get booked in, especially as Tref has offered the discount to the first 10 Club members. Once numbers are starting to come in, we'll know a lot more about timings and the space for other cars.

We also have others who have expressed an interest in coming along to spectate (many from Dorset), some we may persuade to put their car on the rollers "" a standard but well maintained 968 would make an interesting comparison to some of the other transaxle cars we have don't you think? I am also hoping some of our independent specialists will be along "" Jon? But also Marque21, and hopefully the chap that finally fitted and set up the LPG system in my car (and seems rather good at fault diagnosis!).
If you are able to come along as a spectator, please mention it here (good to get an idea of numbers for catering if nothing else), and if there is anything else I should be thinking of, let me know.

Any idea where we might find WUF, Beaky, and LIL? Any other suggestions? Anyone else coming along for the social?
Hopefully everyone who emailed me is in the above list, if not please shout! Please accept my apologies' for not responding individually to every email.

LIL has spent the last year or two being used as a product development test bed, she has a nice new standard 2.5 engine, has had all the bodywork perfected, and I keep threatening to sell her and then change my mind again. It is actually one car I would like to find a set of standard design 90's for and put back to original wing mirrors etc... Problem is, whenever I think about selling her, I do wonder if people would be scared off by the fact she once had a monster engine fitted and had a run in with a tyre wall... But then again, she was repaired with all genuine panels to a decent standard, and since then has had anything that a monster engine would have given a hard time to replaced.
Mark Dalton's J44TBO was sold about 7 years ago to someone in Scottland, no idea where it is now, wish I did, I did like that car!
Mark now has a 3.2 944 turbo, a black one which was owned by Ben Burt, now with a big exhaust and many other mods, but I don't think he has much time to enjoy her these days due to his busy work schedule.
WUF was also owned by Ben Burt, not sure who bought it, would be nice to know if it is still out there somewhere?
Beaky, does John Sims not still hang out here at all?
KUI that went to a couple of the original DynoDays was owned by me at one point, and sold to a current customer Roger, which was last in the workshop a month or so ago for a new alternator, still miss that car, but not as much as my old 968CS or 993RS, they are the only cars I truely regret selling.
Brett is bringing along his 928???? Is he actually going to unleash the beast on the rollers????? []
Regrettably Beaky is having a bit of a rest as his cam belt is way beyond borrowed time. Business issues and other commitments have meant there isn't the not inconsiderable sum available to do a belt change at the moment. []
