944 dyno day?

Another 944T, or could be 993 from Marque21.

That is a shame John... nothing that me popping round with the club belt tensioning tool might rectify? Though to be honest, I am snowed under between now and the dyno day... Can you get along for the social?

Blimey this is filling up quick Tref, well done [:D]

I won't confirm yet but I'm hoping to get along with our S2 - LIL has long since left the fold as Jon has already explained [&o]

The S2 went to Coppermans DynoDay at Surrey Rolling Road last summer and was below 200bhp and showing a hint of blue oil smoke at very high revs. I want to do a before and after compression test and try some of this Forte oil treatment to see if my rings aren't sealing as well as they should. The head was rebuilt last year and made a noticeable difference to the 220,000 miler so it would be nice to get back over 200bhp

Thanks for the offer Treff but I think Essex would be a bit of a haul just to nip round anyway. I'll see how things pan out but Dyno Days are a bit depressing if you can't play as well.

Rubbish, I'm going for the burger van alone! [:D]

I wouldn't put this on the open forum, but Tref's in London often enough to pop over to you and help with a belt change. Go on, you know it makes sense! [;)]

Would you like LIL back Paul? Either the whole car or just the plate for your S2?

She is a bog standard 250 turbo again at the moment with all the UK dealer SE spec bits and the bodywork is all lovely again.

LIL on another car would not make it LIL; just the same as putting BKE on another car would not make it Beaky. Cars names go much deeper than their number plate, even if it was the plate which prompted the name in the first place.

Will try and make it along, not sure if I will have car to run, The coupe is very smokey (though it was still the most powerful 944 on the day in Liverpool), and the cab needs a HG and I don't think I will have time to sort it.

Sorry Jon, she tried to kill me once and after the bruises had healed she sucked the life out of my wallet :ROFLMAO: . She is too rich a mistress for my reformed ways.

(besides she only has a weedy 2.5 litre engine in her now [;)] )

I had a wife like that once.....[]

LOL x2. I did wonder what advantage asthmatic LIL would be to Paul as the inevitable would be to start the journey to more power all over again.

I have concluded that while 951's can be coxed in to giving power cheaply the nature of that power is such that (aside the booost grin) it isn't much good for anything other than going in a straight line.

Perhaps the accolade of the Dyno Day should not be who has the biggest figures but who has the smoothest power delivery ;-)

Are you sure you found that by yourself? ;^p

Oh no don't get me wrong. A seriously tweaked Turbo, and with the extra capacity of a big engine is an awesome piece of kit and a joy to drive all day every day in all conditions. Unfortunately I am no longer in the income bracket to afford something that far from standard and the constant drip drip drip of money to keep it going [&o]

One day.........[8D]

Oh yes. I'm sure its because I don't have big enough sphericals to plant my foot mid corner and hope I've guessed right when the power is going to hit.

No need for that much, but only for some wet places to practice at low/safe speeds.

Gentlefolk,

I apologise for not being more on the ball, but have just risen from my sick-bed and turned the computer on... the emails run in to pages, so forgive me if I haven't replied to anything yet, and likewise, those on here looking for a place on the rollers, I am pretty sure at the moment it won't be a problem, but I'm keeping things in chronological order, so forgive me if I dovetail said requests in.

John, I'm sure a suitably clever software kind of person could link the engine management system into the satnav to prevent planting the right foot until the ETA at the exit of a corner was less that the time taken for the turbo to spool up! Large sphericals no longer required... airbags might be though![:D]

Gentlefolk, an updated list:

Tref. (Dorset + 944 Register) - 944 S2 - LPG

Where are the Luxs'? Don't let the Turbo's take over guys, we can't do it with Ss' and S2s alone!

Thinking of a couple of names"¦ PSH?? Peter Empson?? MarkK?? Am I right in thinking Peter had a Supercharger? That would be a nice way to wake up the rollers[:D]

Jon mentioned the old Titanic list too"¦ I've forgotten how to post on there, but there are a few people on there that were big on the old Dyno days, but some no longer on there - Steve Papworth is one I know who I have lost his contact details (he named my car many, many years ago"¦ I owe him a drink or two!!)"¦ and I really must email Rick"¦

How many do we need to make this the biggest gathering of 944s this year Paul?[;)]

Any comments or ideas folks, please let us know, or if you prefer, email me at R26@porscheclubgb.com

Hi Tref

Alas I won't be able to attend and better (I suspect by a large margin) my previous figures, I have spent all of my time and money in recent years building steam locomotives and thus the car hasn't progressed much, to be honest I should sell her as she's going to waste. Having said that it would be nice to see her engine running again which I have no doubt will pass 430bhp.. certainly the new block that I have built will handle far more power than I would ever ask of her. I did look a while back at the money spent on her development over the 15 years that I've owned her, it's frightening so I can relate to Paul's comments regarding money pits.... let's just say that today I could easily buy a new 911 for the same money.. but hey who wants one of those slow cars....:)

Regards

Pete

Ps: it's good to see so many of the old names still here.. fond memories...:)

Hi Pete,

Never mind the "bettering" of previous numbers, can you get along for the social? I for one would quite like to see the steam locomotive, and I know I wouldn't be alone (Some of us have seen the quality of Pete's work, the rest should!)

As for the money... my records tell me I have spent over £40k on my S2 over the (few) years, but how else would I have got from A to B? Yes, I could have bought a nice 911, but it was the right money to spend at the time (well, most of it! Some mistakes...).

Come on... if it is good to see some of the old names on here, think about actually talking to them! John says he'll come along if you do!(I may have made that bit up, and I might be telling John that Pete says he will be along if he is, but you get the idea[;)])

I popped in on Marque21 today, and I think the 944T is one which some of you might recognise - I need someone who will be able to identify it... and the 993 sounds as if it could be interesting too...

I've stopped worrying about not having enough cars now (there is still room for more 944s), and am starting to really look forward to it, indeed, now the aim is to make it THE event of 2014, don't miss out folks, it's going to be good!
