944 Insurance recommendations and prices - FAQ thread

Couple of emails to Lockton's and new premium of £197 3k miles, garaged, with mods. Previously £320odd with Markerstudy. Very efficient service too.

Went with Trinity Lane via Adrian Flux this morning, I'd never heard of them and a Google search had a few people asking questions about them being registered in Malta but found several good reports too (including the all important ones from those who have had to claim).

Anyway:

944 Turbo S

34 year old male, 3 points and one £8k fault claim

3000 miles per annum, SD&P, garaged overnight (and between 10pm-6am if within 1/2 mile of house)

Agreed value £22k, excess £250, European breakdown cover via Adrian Flux themselves, salvage title, etc.

All modifications covered on a "like for like" basis provided I supply them with a list (which I have from my club valuation)

£203.99*

(It should've been £204 but they quoted me the exact same price for my MX5 and the system wouldn't let them enter the same value twice for one customer hence my massive 1p discount)

*If anyone has any words of wisdom about them, let me know within the next 14 days please. I did try Mannings for their trackday cover too but they wanted £800 for the road policy alone. Locktons only cover PCGB track days so that's not much use to me but I may give Reis a call tomorrow as they cover up to 4 days a year at no extra cost apparently.

Yup - good to see maths is alive and well. Although waiting for the inevitable comment about how I'd be 24 again if I'd kept my 2.7, cut the roof off and only used 2 wheel studs or something.

Auto renewed with them last year again as price was practically the same 👍

Hello Chaps,

I just popped in to get some ideas for insurance, have tried:

Lockton - answerphone

PBIS - answerphone / powercut :ROFLMAO:

Adrian Flux - answered but then left me holding for 6 mins.

I have a quote from Classicline 944T '91 250xs, Eurobreakdown, legal, 3000 miles, agreed value 20K for £24. Premium £256......What you think, PS I'm 69.75.

I might have some stuff for the spares section soon.

All the best

Robbie

try RH Classic Insurance Robbie they are always the cheapest and have a good cover . My 944S2 cost £110 per year FComp [link=https://www.rhspecialistinsurance.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwIOowces6gIV2evtCh1fxAjXEAAYASAAEgIMRfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds]https://www.rhspecialisti...D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds[/link]

Thanks, Peanut, I will try them tomorrow.

I have just had an online quote from Lancaster Insurance for similar cover to the Classicline one at £256 for £173 a saving of £83.

I don't know Lancaster, any feedback on them.

Thank you all.

thats a coincidence I just insured my Mercedes SLK 230 through Lancaster for £220 (69 and 9 yrs NCB )

A week later they requested proof of my NCB which i sent. They then messaged back that it wasn't valid because it was in use with another vehicle and insurer ( campervan ) and you can only use your NCB with a single vehicle or insurer ?

I had to fork out a further £30 because they refused to accept my NCB so watch out for that. If I was a cynic I'd say that Lancaster sucker you in with a cheap initial quote then find ways to jack the price up once they take your money .Funny how they didn't check before I paid

I’m with [link=https://www.footmanjames.co.uk/]https://www.footmanjames.co.uk/[/link] just renewed last week as their renewal price actually went down.

Thanks for all the help. I have decided to stick with Classicline. for the following reasons:

Their quote includes Euro-breakdown, Legal & track days.

They also cover my Audi A2

Getting quotes is a pain in the bum. [&o]

Thank you all and as Arnie says "I'll be back"

Just renewed my insurance on my 1990 944 S2 with Lancaster and after paying £211 last year on a new policy I queried this years renewal at £189 as my twin brother has a similar car, lives 5 miles from me and pays significantly less , they came back with a revised quote including agreed value at £145 which I'm happy with always worth a phone call . it has 6000 miles allowance but no breakdown cover as I'm in the AA through my company and I don't think legal over is worth it
