964 Register Display Eynsham Hall Event

Although we don't have any positive information on Register parking at The Eynsham Hall Event.
The update that has been sent to me by Event Manager Louisa Harvey, does say that Register Members who want to be involved in the register displays must fill out the Ticket Application Form send out in this month's Porsche Post. Clearly stating that you are a Register Member. Louisa will collate the forms, and pass them on the Barry Smith. Who will then pass the names of ticket holders to the Register Secretary. By the time this takes to evolve, we should know how many cars will be allowed on the limited display area.
What is positive; is that we still require; One Red, one White and one Blue 964 for the two days of the event. Also two Original 964s for the Historic Display.
So to recap your must apply for your ticket.
Sorry guys there are no free tickets this year.

Best wishes,

Ken, are we going to have 'Something' that (a) designates it as a registry display, the carpark was more interesting last year, not to mention the less than friendly attitude of those who directed us to park 'somewhere over there

I suggest

(a) Marqee & with registry banner- with chairs-which is a focal point
- a place to meet fellow members and those who are interested
- a place to shelter if its too hot or the weather turns bad
- perhaps some interesting descriptors of the 964 History/model range in bullet point form/maybe some leaflets
- a place where interested members of the Public can come and walk away thinking - hey that was interesting-the club really supports its members and those who maintain it's earlier models-you don't have to spend btwn 60-100K to be a club member

Sincerely

Jeff,
I agree with you. But the Register Secretaries are not being consulted ........................

Hi Jeff & Fred.
The details that I gave were up to date last Monday from my conversation with Barry; also the letter received from Louisa Event Manager.
As soon as Barry calculates the number of cars that can be displayed on the limited space available, he will let us know.

Cheers Fred/Ken. My concerns are not so much the numbers, though they are important, but more importantly, the facilities provided by the club for the registries

I will contact Barry

Thanks.

Just wondering about the Register Display.... What form is it taking...? Just the very best of the 964's on the register or is it simply an area where we can park our cars together?

Thanks!

Hello Colin,
I understand the proposals for the displays have been sent to Cornbury House and will appear in the June PP. I'm on the gate as part of the Special Displays team so if you slip me ÂŁ50 in used ten pound notes when you arrive your car will be considered. [:)][:)]
I hope its not just the best cars that are being allowed into the Register display area, if it is then mine will be parked in Oxford, I'm thinking on polishing it before I go down, has anyone got any Brasso they could let me use?[:)]
Cheers,

I trust that us Register Secretaries will also be told what the format is to be.

Thanks for the update - both Fred and Ken.

If the stand requires 'concours' (or close to concours) condition cars - then mine would not make the cut. It's a nice car but it does get used often as, I think, all Porsches should be.

I'm not one of these folks who puts cling film over the nose of their car to transport it on a trailer from event to event....! I saw this at the PCGB Brands Hatch weekend last year and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.....

Perhaps it's just me that's weird? [;)]

Hi-Colin-I did contact Barry Smith as referred to by Fred. He has responded in a light fashion and I am still waiting on more meat on the bones. I believe there will be a tent but more than likely centralised for every registry, so how packed will that get ?...Ken, communication-whats that ?. I remember one year offering my services with plenty of time-i spoke to the organiser-it's the usual crap, just never got back to me.....its a perfect example of how centralisation works for a club within the club....One year, i'm going to the AGM....it will be one not to forget...OOP's Jeff got karted off by the thought Police....

Hello Jeff,
As you are probably aware from talking to Barry that at the actual event R18 (Lancs and Cumbria) are providing the special display team. (about 12 of us I think). The organisation and the politics is up to others so god knows what will be arranged for the weekend, as long as they let someone know who has actually got to sort things out then we have a chance. Hopefully I will still have my sense of humour at the end of it! (Sanity went years ago!)[:)]
